GCC Medical Tourism Research

I want a clear, data-rich picture of why residents of the GCC—especially Oman—choose India for medical care and what their journey looks like end-to-end. To get there, you will conduct and analyse 30 in-depth, semi-structured interviews spread across three profiles:

• Patients who have already travelled to India for treatment
• Omani doctors who actively refer those cases
• Local medical facilitators who arrange logistics and liaise with hospitals

From patients I need to hear first-hand accounts of their treatment experience and outcomes, how they selected India and the specific hospital, the hurdles they faced before and after arriving, and any pain points along the way. With doctors, I’m focused on the criteria they use to decide that India is the right option, difficulties they encounter during referral, and how they handle post-treatment follow-up. Facilitators should shed light on operational challenges, coordination with Indian providers, and overall market demand trends.

You will handle participant recruitment, design the interview guide (I’ll sign off on the final version), schedule and run the calls, prepare verbatim transcripts, and deliver a synthesis report highlighting themes, quantified patterns, and actionable recommendations. Qualitative research tools such as NVivo or MAXQDA are welcome if they streamline coding, yet standard spreadsheet analysis is fine provided insights remain rigorous.

Acceptance criteria
1. 30 completed interviews, evenly distributed across the three groups
2. Audio recordings and English transcripts for every session
3. Thematic analysis deck (PowerPoint or Google Slides) with key findings, direct quotes, and at least three strategic suggestions for stakeholders in Oman’s outbound-to-India healthcare pathway

All fieldwork must comply with local privacy regulations and participants must give informed consent. I’m ready to move quickly once the recruitment plan is approved.
