I’m building a web-only e-commerce application and I need a quality-focused engineer who can also jump into the codebase whenever necessary. Your day-to-day work will combine deep testing expertise with hands-on full-stack development, so you’ll be shipping features and breaking them (in controlled environments) all in the same sprint.
The scope
The app will be deployed exclusively on the Web, so everything we do—from responsive layouts to security headers—must shine in the browser. Because the entire business relies on rock-solid transactions, our checkout flow, catalogue browsing, and account areas have to function flawlessly across devices and modern browsers.
What you’ll actually do
• Design and automate end-to-end, integration, and unit tests using tools such as Cypress, Playwright, Selenium, Jest, or Mocha.
• Fix or build features on the front end (React/Vue/HTML5) and back end (Node/Express, Django, or comparable frameworks) whenever gaps are uncovered.
• Set up a CI/CD pipeline that runs the test suite on every pull request, flags regressions, and deploys clean builds.
• Perform manual exploratory testing of payment, cart, and order flows until we’re fully confident that automation covers them.
• Log, triage, and squash bugs, then document the fixes so future contributors learn from any edge cases you uncover.
Acceptance criteria
A passing automated test suite covering critical e-commerce journeys; zero critical or high-severity bugs in production for two consecutive releases; and clear, concise documentation of test cases, environment setup, and deployment steps.
