Fix Python MLB Refresh

I have a small Python utility that pulls Major League Baseball statistics each day and stores them locally so the rest of my workflow can run. Somewhere along the line the refresh step broke—either the data is no longer updating or the script throws an uncaught error. I need someone to step in, trace the problem, and leave me with a clean, reliable refresh routine.

You will receive the existing script (Python 3.x, mostly pandas/requests) plus a sample of the last good data file for comparison. After your repair I should be able to execute one command, watch the console progress, and see a freshly updated dataset ready for downstream use.

Deliverables
• Updated, well-commented script (or module)
• Brief README explaining any new dependencies or environment variables
• Confirmation that the script runs successfully from a blank virtualenv on your end and mine

Acceptance criteria
The script must complete without errors, pull the current day’s MLB data, and produce an output file matching the previous schema so nothing else in my pipeline needs to change.
