Fix ODBC SQLSTATE IM002 Error

Every time I open my desktop database tool the session fails with
“SQLSTATE = IM002
[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified.”
The error appears only when the tool tries to establish the connection; everything else in the application loads fine. I am connecting through an ODBC driver, but the DSN or driver registration clearly is not being picked up.
What I need from you
• Locate the exact cause of the IM002 message—missing or wrong DSN, 32-bit vs 64-bit driver mismatch, incorrect registry entry, or anything else that could block the ODBC handshake.
• Install, repair, or correctly map the required driver.
• Test the connection inside the tool until the error is gone and queries run successfully.
• Document the steps you took (driver version, DSN settings, file paths, registry keys, etc.) so I can replicate the fix on another workstation or server.
