Paper Trading Platform for Indian Stock Markets — Browser Extension + Web App (Full-Stack Build)
Project Overview
I need a developer to build a paper (simulated/virtual) trading platform for Indian stock market traders. The core idea: a lightweight browser extension that overlays a simulated trading panel directly on top of real trading terminals (Zerodha Kite, Dhan, TradingView, Upstox) — so users place virtual trades on the exact interface they already use, without building a proprietary charting product from scratch. This is paired with a web dashboard for trade history and analytics, plus a private admin panel for platform management.
I'd rather work with an efficient, independent developer who moves fast using modern AI-assisted coding tools (Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot, etc.) — a "vibe coder" who can architect and ship this solo — than a large team or agency.
What You'll Be Building
1. Browser Extension (Chrome, Manifest V3)
Auto-detects the active stock/index ticker and live price on supported terminals (Kite, Dhan, TradingView, Upstox) directly from the page.
Floating overlay panel with two trading modes: Scalper Mode (one-click market buy/sell with preset quantities) and Trade Plan Mode (full order ticket — Market/Limit/SL/SL-M, target, stop-loss, quantity, product type).
Segment toggle between Equity Delivery, Equity Intraday, and F&O, adjusting order fields accordingly (strike/expiry for options).
Built-in position-sizing calculator based on risk % of capital and stop-loss distance.
Authenticated session that syncs every simulated order instantly to the web dashboard.
2. Account & Capital System
Sign-up/login (email, phone, Google).
Automatic virtual capital allocation on signup.
Support for multiple parallel "practice books" per user (separate virtual accounts for different trading styles).
Capital reset flow for when a user's virtual balance is exhausted.
Light onboarding profile (experience level, preferred segments).
3. Web Dashboard
Live positions and order book, with floating and realized P&L.
Gross vs. net P&L calculation that factors in simulated brokerage, STT, exchange charges, stamp duty, and GST — not just raw price difference.
Daily/weekly P&L calendar heatmap.
Trade highlights: best/worst day, biggest single win/loss, win rate.
Watchlist, synced with the extension.
User-configurable daily loss-limit alerts.
Trade journal: notes and custom tags on every trade.
Options strategy builder — multi-leg basket creation (buy/sell CE/PE across strikes and expiries) with an interactive payoff graph showing breakeven points and max profit/loss.
Library of preset option strategy templates (Bull Call Spread, Iron Condor, Short Straddle, etc.) that load with one click.
One-click execution of multi-leg strategy baskets into the paper account.
Simulated margin requirement and basic Greeks (Delta, Theta, Vega, Gamma) using periodically refreshed option chain data.
Equity curve, sector allocation breakdown, and XIRR/CAGR return metrics.
Exportable trade history and analytics reports (PDF/CSV).
Simple stock screener (top gainers/losers, volume breakouts).
Referral program with bonus virtual capital.
Weekly/monthly trading leaderboard/challenge (rank/badge-based, not cash prizes).
Daily/weekly email or push recap of account performance.
In-app onboarding walkthrough for first-time users.
Optional integration point for linking relevant educational content within the dashboard based on a user's trading patterns.
4. Admin Portal (private, owner-only access)
Overview of all registered users and active sessions.
Platform-wide, filterable trade/order log.
Per-user ledger and virtual capital management, including manual top-ups and resets.
Subscription and payment tracking with payment-gateway webhook integration.
Audit log of all admin actions.
Broadcast/announcement tool to push notices to all users.
Basic usage analytics: signups, active users, conversion, churn.
Not Required for This Project
To keep scope clear: this project does not involve drawing custom chart patterns or trading signals (liquidity sweeps, fair value gaps, etc.) onto third-party terminal charts, real broker order execution/routing, native iOS/Android apps, or tick-by-tick historical backtesting. Everything above is simulated, browser-based, and reads pricing data already available from the terminal or a standard market data source.
Ideal Candidate
Full-stack developer comfortable owning both a browser extension and a web application end-to-end.
Experience with Chrome extension development (content scripts, DOM manipulation) is a strong plus, since ticker/price detection is central to this product.
Familiarity with Indian stock market mechanics (order types, F&O, brokerage/STT structure) is a bonus but not mandatory.
Productive with AI-assisted coding tools and confident making independent technical decisions without heavy oversight.
Deliverables
Full source code for the Chrome extension, web dashboard, and admin portal.
A working deployment (or clear deployment instructions) for all three components.
Brief documentation covering setup, environment variables, and how the system is structured.
