I’m hiring a fast, reliable, creative video editor for Built To Host, a documentary-style video podcast filmed on location inside the spaces connected to each guest.

This IS a podcast, but it is NOT a traditional sit-down studio podcast. The interview/conversation is the backbone, combined with documentary storytelling, B-roll, natural interactions, environmental sound, humor, pauses, host moments, and cinematic visuals.

I need an editor who can watch the raw footage and help discover the story, not someone who needs exact timestamps for every cut.

Typical episode: 20–30 minutes
Budget: $100 USD fixed per completed episode
Turnaround: First rough cut within 5 days and completed episode within 7 days maximum, assuming revision feedback is provided promptly.
Potential: Consistent ongoing episodes for the right editor.

Editing should include:
• Strong cold open using the best moment(s) from the footage
• Built To Host official intro
• Interview/story structure
• Intentional B-roll
• Natural pauses, reactions, humor and imperfect moments when they strengthen the story
• Dialogue cleanup and audio mixing
• Music and sound design where appropriate
• Color correction/grading
• Clean text/lower thirds when needed
• Smooth, intentional transitions
• Professional final export

I do NOT want excessive zooms, flashy template transitions, constant captions, random effects, fake scenes, AI-generated performances, or hyperactive editing.

Authenticity matters. The people and moments are real. I want the finished episode polished while still feeling human.

Reliability is extremely important. I am actively producing episodes and need someone who communicates clearly and meets deadlines. I do not want to chase an editor for updates.

Please only apply if the stated $100 fixed rate and 7-day maximum turnaround work for you now.

When applying, please send your BEST documentary/interview storytelling example and your BEST cinematic long-form edit. Do not send a huge portfolio.

Also answer:

1. Can you accept $100 per completed 20–30 minute episode?
2. Can you deliver the first rough cut within 5 days and final within 7 days?
3. If I give you raw interview footage, B-roll and creative notes, can you identify and structure the strongest story yourself?
4. If hired today, what exact date would you deliver the first rough cut?

I’m looking for someone who can become a consistent part of the Built To Host editing workflow, not simply complete one job.
