Summary
We are looking for participants who identify as Native American or Indigenous for a paid face video recording project. The recordings help test face recognition systems across a diverse range of people. No experience is needed, just a device with a camera and the ability to follow simple on-screen instructions.
What You Will Do
You'll record 20 short videos (about 1–2 minutes each) using our web-based recording tool. The full set takes around 2–3 hours and can be spread over a few days. In each video you either follow 11 simple prompts (tilt your head, nod, open your mouth, move closer…) or follow a dot around the screen with your nose. Before each video you fill in a few details about yourself and your surroundings.
You'll be assigned one of two tasks during onboarding:
1. Paper Mask: record 10 videos of your face as normal, then 10 wearing a printed paper mask of a face. You'll send a short test video first so we can check the mask with you.
2. Replay: record 10 videos of your face as normal on your own, then join a scheduled video call where our team records the other 10 while you follow their instructions.
What You Need
- You are 18 or older. We welcome all ages, including participants over 60.
- A smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop with a working camera
- A stable internet connection
Variety Across Your Videos
- Indoors, outdoors in daylight and after dark.
- Normal light, bright light, dim light, and light from behind or one side
- Some videos with reading glasses, a cap, a hood or headphones, and some without (no sunglasses)
Important
- Each application is for one participant. You'll be given a unique participant ID.
- Your face must be the only face in every video.
- No filters, editing or AI-generated content.
- Every video is reviewed for quality. Any video that needs redoing is returned with clear feedback, and payment is released once your full set passes.
- You'll be asked to sign a consent form before starting, covering how your recordings are used for AI research and model training.
To Apply
Send us a short message with:
1. Your ethnicity/background
2. Your age
3. Your country of residence
4. The device(s) you'll record on
Our coordinator will reply with the full participant guide and next steps.
