# UKRBA Exhibition Backdrop Artwork Brief
## Purpose
Please take the supplied **“What’s in the Box?”** design and create the final print-ready artwork for our two exhibition backdrops.
**Important: do not change the concept or create a new design.**
We like the existing design, colours, curves, overall layout and idea. This job is primarily about:
* correcting the proportions
* repositioning the headline and box
* accurately representing the real exhibition box
* adapting the same design properly across the two different backdrop sizes
* supplying final artwork using the printer templates provided
---
# 1. Backdrops Required
We need artwork for:
### Backdrop 1
**Portable Straight Fabric Pop-Up Wall**
Nominal display size:
**2.3m wide × 2.3m high**
The manufacturer's template states:
* Bleed artwork size: **2940mm × 2310mm**
* Seam size: **2880mm × 2250mm**
* Main centre/front section: **2250mm wide**
* Safe height: **2150mm**
The artwork must include the side-return sections shown on the supplied template.
### Backdrop 2
**Portable Straight Fabric Pop-Up Wall**
Nominal display size:
**3m wide × 2.3m high**
The manufacturer's template states:
* Bleed artwork size: **3680mm × 2310mm**
* Seam size: **3620mm × 2250mm**
* Main centre/front section: **2990mm wide**
* Safe height: **2150mm**
Again, the artwork must correctly continue into the side-return sections shown on the supplied template.
---
# 2. Existing Design
Use the supplied UKRBA artwork as the design reference.
It consists of:
* UK SME Responsible Business Association logo at the upper left
* large headline:
**What’s in
the Box?**
* navy and green UKRBA colour scheme
* white central background
* sweeping navy and green shapes along the lower section
* branded physical box positioned on the right-hand side
This overall concept must remain.
---
# 3. Headline Changes
The current headline is slightly too dominant, particularly **“What’s in”**.
Please:
* reduce the overall headline by approximately **10%**
* concentrate that reduction particularly on **“What’s in”**
* retain **“Box?”** as the strongest and punchiest part
* move the complete headline block **slightly upwards**
The headline still needs to be extremely visible from across an exhibition hall, but it should no longer dominate the artwork to the point that the physical box feels pushed towards the bottom.
The intended visual hierarchy is:
1. **What’s in the Box?**
2. Physical branded box
3. UKRBA identity/logo
The headline and box should work together rather than compete.
---
# 4. Position of the Box
The illustrated box needs to come **higher up the artwork**.
Please lift it by approximately **10–15% from its current position**.
It should remain on the **right-hand side**, but sit much more within the **upper/middle working area** of the backdrop.
Do not allow the box to appear as though it is sitting at floor level.
This is particularly important because at an exhibition:
* people will stand in front of the backdrop
* furniture may partially obscure the lower area
* visitors walking past need to understand the concept without looking down
The important visual elements therefore need to sit predominantly in the **upper and middle areas** of the backdrop.
---
# 5. Actual Physical Box Dimensions
The real exhibition box is:
**60cm wide × 42cm deep × 46cm high**
Please use these actual proportions when illustrating the box.
The current visual representation should therefore be adjusted so that it looks like this real rectangular storage box rather than an oversized cube or unusually deep chest.
Reference photographs of the actual style of box have been supplied.
---
# 6. Box Construction Detail
The real box has a relatively **thin lid**, not the heavy/thick lid shown in some earlier visualisations.
Please represent:
* a thin top panel
* a small visible edge/overhang around the top
* a realistic rectangular furniture-style box
* approximately **60 × 42 × 46cm proportions**
The lid has a slight overhang beyond the main body of the box. This detail needs to remain visible because it makes the illustration look like the actual physical item.
**Do not make the lid thick, chunky or oversized.**
---
# 7. Branding on the Box
Please retain the branding concept currently shown.
### Top/lid
The **UKRBA shield/tick symbol must remain visible on the TOP of the box.**
This is important and must not be removed.
### Front face
Large green:
**?**
### Side face
Retain the simple green **opening-box / reveal graphic** shown in the existing concept.
The box itself should remain primarily:
* navy exterior
* white front face
* green graphic elements
---
# 8. Perspective
The box should be shown in a slight three-quarter perspective so that we can see:
* the front face
* the right side
* the top/lid
However, do not exaggerate the perspective.
The top must be visible enough for the UKRBA shield to be clearly recognised.
The physical box should feel believable and proportionally correct.
---
# 9. Adaptation Between the Two Backdrop Sizes
Please do **not simply stretch the 2.3m artwork to make the 3m version.**
Both versions should retain exactly the same concept and visual identity, but the composition should be adjusted intelligently.
### 2.3m version
Because the central front-facing area is narrower, keep the design relatively compact while retaining clear separation between:
* headline on the left
* box on the right
### 3m version
Use the additional width to give the design more breathing room.
The headline and box should **not become substantially larger simply because more width is available**.
Instead, use the additional width to improve spacing and visual balance.
The design should therefore feel like the same campaign across both stands.
---
# 10. Critical Exhibition Viewing Requirement
The design must work for somebody **walking past the stand**, not somebody standing directly in front of a computer screen looking at the artwork.
Therefore:
* key words must sit at approximately eye level
* the box must be visually obvious without looking towards the floor
* the question must be readable immediately
* the design should make somebody curious enough to stop and ask:
**“What is in the box?”**
Please remember that counters, people and exhibition furniture will naturally obscure part of the lower backdrop.
Do not place anything important in the bottom section.
---
# 11. Lower Graphic Curves
Retain the existing:
* navy lower sweep
* green secondary sweep
* white background
However, these are background/design elements rather than the primary content.
They should support the headline and box rather than force either element too far upwards or downwards.
The box should appear naturally positioned over this graphic treatment without appearing to sit on the very bottom edge.
---
# 12. UKRBA Logo
Keep the UK SME Responsible Business Association logo in the **upper-left area**, as presently shown.
It should remain clearly readable but secondary to the main exhibition question.
Do not dramatically enlarge it.
---
# 13. Printer Requirements
Please work directly on the two supplied manufacturer templates.
The manufacturer requires:
* **2-inch bleed**
* no critical text or logos within **2 inches of the perimeter**
* artwork in **CMYK**
* images embedded
* image resolution **100–120 DPI at finished size**
* fonts converted to outlines
* artwork/artboard must not be scaled
These requirements are stated on the supplied templates.
The 3m template gives the same CMYK, resolution and outlined-font requirements.
---
# 14. Files Required From Designer
Please provide:
1. **Print-ready PDF – 2.3m backdrop**
2. **Editable AI file – 2.3m backdrop**
3. **Print-ready PDF – 3m backdrop**
4. **Editable AI file – 3m backdrop**
5. A **JPEG or PNG visual proof/mock-up** of each version before finalising
Please keep all important wording, logos and the box comfortably inside the safe area.
---
# Final Visual Direction
The finished backdrop should essentially look like the design supplied, but with:
* headline approximately **10% smaller**
* “What’s in” slightly less dominant
* headline moved slightly upwards
* physical box raised approximately **10–15%**
* box dimensions/proportions corrected to **60 × 42 × 46cm**
* thinner realistic lid
* slight lid overhang clearly visible
* UKRBA shield retained **on top of the lid**
* front question mark retained
* side box/reveal icon retained
* all key content kept well above the bottom of the backdrop
**Do not redesign the concept. Refine and correctly scale the existing concept for production.**
