I am looking for a graphic designer to help develop and refine the visual identity for Essence Centered Life & Leadership, my consulting, coaching, facilitation, and leadership development practice.
The heart of the work is helping people become deeply rooted in who they are so they can live, lead, and flourish from the inside out.
I have already done considerable work developing the brand’s language and visual direction. I am not looking for a designer to start from a blank page or create a conventional corporate brand. I am looking for someone who can take an emerging visual identity and bring professional design judgment, cohesion, and refinement to it.
The visual direction is grounded in an original photograph I took in Israel of a mature, irregular tree growing in rocky terrain, with sunlight illuminating the scene and people naturally gathered nearby. The image carries themes important to the work: rootedness, resilience, becoming, illumination, relationship, community, accompaniment, and flourishing even in difficult terrain.
The emerging visual language includes generous negative space, warm cream, deep forest and moss greens, muted mountain blues, warm earth tones, and restrained illuminated gold. Typography is moving toward a warm, literary, human serif paired with clean supporting typography. Additional landscape imagery should reflect the soft, layered mountains of Western North Carolina rather than dramatic mountain imagery.
The overall feeling should be spacious, grounded, warm, mature, relational, contemplative but alive, quietly hopeful, and professional without feeling corporate. I want to avoid visual clichés associated with coaching, wellness, spirituality, or leadership.
I have also been using AI visual exploration to develop initial website concepts. These are reference and direction-setting materials, not finished designs, and I can provide them along with the original photograph, color explorations, typography explorations, and existing Essence materials.
My immediate design needs include:
• Refinement/development of the Essence Centered Life & Leadership logo/wordmark and visual identity
• Final color palette and typography system
• Guidance for consistent use of photography, landscape imagery, light, texture, and negative space
• A practical brand/style guide I can use across website, presentations, printed resources, reports, and other materials
• Design guidance/assets that can support development of the Essence website
• Templates or foundational elements that allow me to create routine materials myself while maintaining a coherent visual identity
I am particularly interested in working with a designer who is comfortable with collaboration and refinement rather than imposing a predetermined aesthetic, and who can help translate the meaning and values already present in the work into a visual system that can grow with the business.
I would be glad to share the visual references and current concepts so you can see where the work has already developed.
Please include a link to your portfolio that highlights similar warm, approachable branding projects, and outline your expected turnaround time from kickoff to final files.
