EPLAN P8 Electrical Schematic: Retrofit of a Slitter-Rewinder (DC Drives to SINAMICS G120 / S7-1500)
Project Overview
We are retrofitting the electrical system of an Atlas CW2 slitter-rewinder from the 1990s. The machine currently runs on DC drives, 110VAC relay logic and analog tension-control boards. We need an experienced EPLAN designer to create a complete new electrical schematic in EPLAN Electric P8, using the latest version with an active, valid license.
We will provide:
The existing machine schematics (Atlas OEM drawings plus a 2011 NR-12 safety upgrade).
The parts list for the new system.
A reference EPLAN project from a similar machine. Your design must follow its structure and standards.
Existing Machine
Main drive: SSD 590A DC drive, 5.2 kW DC motor.
Rewind drive: SSD 590A DC drive, 13.8 kW DC motor.
Control: 110VAC relay logic with analog PCBs for tension, overspeed and speed reference. The E/P transducer is used for rewind tension.
Auxiliary motors (to be kept): 2 vacuum pumps, hydraulic power pack, trim blower, 2 drive vent fans and a FIFE web guide.
Existing safety (to be kept):
E-stops
Front and rear pull cords
Light curtain
Safety mat
Bypass key switch
Reset
Safety relays (Schmersal SRB301MC / SRB301HC/T)
New System
Power supply: 380V 3-phase, 60Hz, direct with no transformer. Main breaker (Siemens 3VM) and NH fuse disconnectors.
PLC: Siemens S7-1500 (CPU 1511) with 2× ET200SP remote stations over PROFINET (IM155-6 PN).
I/O (approx.):
96 DI (6× DI16)
48 DQ (3× DQ16)
8 AI (2× AI4)
4 AQ (1× AQ4)
Main drives:
SINAMICS G120: PM240-2 power modules with CU250S-2 PN control units.
Line reactors and braking resistors.
1PH8 asynchronous motors (20 kW and 7 kW) replacing the DC motors.
Servos: 2× SINAMICS V90 PN with 1FL6 servomotors.
HMI: Siemens MTP1000 10" Unified Comfort over PROFINET. Most of the current pushbuttons move to the HMI.
Network: SCALANCE switch, PROFINET topology.
Sensors: ultrasonic and optical distance sensors for roll diameter, replacing the follower-arm potentiometer.
Safety:
Keep all existing safety devices and the hardwired E-stop circuits.
Drive stopping via STO on the G120 drives, replacing the old intervention circuit on the 590A drives.
Control voltage: 24VDC (SITOP power supply), with fused distribution.
A final, corrected parts list will be provided at project start.
Scope of Work
Analyse the existing schematics and translate the old relay and analog logic into the new architecture.
Create the full I/O list (addresses, tags, descriptions) and agree with us which functions move to the HMI.
Draw the complete schematic in EPLAN P8:
cover page, index and structure (following our reference project)
network/PROFINET topology
main power distribution and protection
G120 and V90 drive power and control circuits, including STO
auxiliary motor circuits
24VDC distribution
PLC and ET200SP I/O pages
safety circuits (E-stops, pull cords, light curtain, safety mat, bypass, reset)
Size the protective devices and cables, and coordinate them with the drives’ requirements.
Reconcile the BOM with our parts list and flag any errors or missing items.
Deliverables
Native EPLAN P8 project, plus a zipped project backup.
Full PDF of the schematic.
Terminal diagrams and terminal strip overview.
Cable list.
Bill of materials (BOM).
PLC I/O overview / assignment list.
2D panel layout (enclosure 2000 × 800 × 600 mm).
Revision log.
Nice to have: a short control philosophy and start/stop sequence page.
Standards
IEC 60204-1
NR-12 (Brazilian machine safety regulation)
IEC 81346 device tagging
Siemens wiring guidelines for G120/V90 STO and PROFINET
Requirements
Proven experience with EPLAN Electric P8. Please share samples or a portfolio.
An active, valid EPLAN license (latest version). This is mandatory.
Solid experience with Siemens SINAMICS G120/S120/V90, S7-1500 and ET200SP.
Experience with machine safety: safety relays, STO, and ISO 13849 concepts.
Retrofit experience with industrial machines (converting, printing or slitting machines is a plus).
Portuguese or English communication. Brazilian time zone overlap preferred.
Timeline & Payment
Start: immediately. Full-time dedication preferred.
Duration: about 1 week
Partial delivery: power and drive pages for review in the first week.
Budget: USD 150
