I've built MyLedger, a working offline-first personal + small-business accounting app for Indian users. It runs entirely on the user's machine — no cloud, no login, no tracking — and auto-writes a live 12-sheet Excel workbook as the portable database.
Current state: ~2,700 hand-written lines. 15 working modules including budgets, GST invoicing, udhaar khata, home-loan amortization, investment tracking, and a local-LLM accountant via Ollama. Frontend is dependency-free vanilla JS (no build step, by design). Backend is Flask + openpyxl.
What I need: it works, but it was built solo and fast. I'm hiring to fix the rough edges and then extend it. Work is split into small fixed-scope lots so we can both see how we work together before committing to more:
Lot 0 — Make it reproducible (start here): cross-platform launcher, requirements.txt, sample data file, README that matches reality, clean git setup.
Lot 1 — Security hardening: XSS audit, WebCrypto key-derivation upgrade with migration, API auth, request validation.
Lot 2 — Test suite + CI: pytest for the financial logic and the Excel writer, round-trip tests for import/export and encryption.
Lot 3 — Data integrity: resolve the dual source of truth between browser storage and the on-disk .xlsx.
Lot 4 — New features: GSTR-1/3B export, advance-tax estimator, net worth, PDF report.
Stack you must be comfortable with: Python 3, Flask, openpyxl (charts, native Tables, DataValidation, formula generation), vanilla ES6 (no React — please don't propose a rewrite), WebCrypto, pytest.
Important: I am not looking for a framework migration. The no-build-step, no-dependency frontend is a deliberate architectural constraint, not an oversight. Proposals that open with "I'd rebuild this in React/Next" will not be considered.
Repo is available on request — it contains code and docs only, no personal financial data. Please answer the screening questions in your proposal; generic templates get skipped.
