My current Laravel application is stable, but it has reached the point where genuine AI-powered features and better runtime performance are essential. I want three things achieved in one focused sprint:
1. New functionality with the OpenAI API
• Content generation endpoints that accept a prompt and return well-formatted copy in JSON.
• A language-translation service that can be called from anywhere in the codebase (middleware-friendly), returning translated strings while respecting existing localisation files.
2. Faster, leaner execution through the Gemini API
Gemini will handle selected heavy computations now performed server-side. I need thoughtful caching, graceful fall-backs, and measurable response-time improvements without breaking existing routes or queued jobs.
3. Bug fixing and refactoring
Long-standing issues (mainly around job dispatching, rate limiting, and a handful of failing PHPUnit tests) must be resolved so the new AI layers sit on a clean foundation.
Acceptance criteria
• All new endpoints documented in OpenAPI/Swagger.
• Unit and feature tests passing (≥90 % coverage on new code).
• No degradation of current features; Lighthouse and Laravel Telescope should confirm performance gains post-Gemini integration.
• Clear setup instructions in an updated README.
Tech stack in play: Laravel 10, PHP 8.2, MySQL, Redis, Horizon, Docker. Familiarity with prompt engineering, streaming responses, and robust error handling with Guzzle is vital.
I will grant Git access and run reviews on a dedicated feature branch; once the above criteria are met, we merge to main.
