English-Vietnamese Interpreter for Gaming Interviews

Role Description The Simultaneous Interpreters – Vietnamese Gaming Creator IDI Research Project role is a part-time remote position focused on live interpretation for in-depth interviews (IDIs) with gaming content creators. In this role, the interpreter will provide real-time Vietnamese–English and English–Vietnamese interpretation during virtual research sessions, ensuring accurate and culturally appropriate communication between participants and the research team.

Your Core Role
• Provide live simultaneous interpretation: Vietnamese → English for client observers during each Zoom interview
• Join a 15-minute pre-interview technical check before each session
• Coordinate availability with the moderator to match participant booking schedules
• Attend pre-project kickoff/training if required
• Support post-session clarification, contribute to notes on language nuances or cultural context, and collaborate with project coordinators to maintain consistency in terminology and tone
• Join daily short debrief sessions (around 15 mins) as needed
This position requires adherence to confidentiality standards, punctuality for all sessions, and professional interaction with gaming creators and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications
• Native Vietnamese and strong English language proficiency, with demonstrated ability in simultaneous and consecutive interpreting for interviews or meetings
• Experience or familiarity with the gaming industry, online content creation (YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram), and common gaming terminology and platforms
• Background in translation or interpretation, linguistics, communication, or a related field; professional interpreting experience in research or market studies is an advantage
• Excellent listening skills, concentration, and ability to interpret accurately in real time while maintaining neutrality and cultural sensitivity
• Comfort with remote work using video conferencing and collaboration tools, with reliable internet connectivity and a quiet, professional work environment
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities, including preparation for sessions, adherence to schedules, and accurate documentation of relevant language notes
• Commitment to ethical conduct, including respect for participant privacy, research integrity, and confidentiality requirements
• Availability to work efficiently across agreed time zones and flexibility to accommodate project-related scheduling needs
