English-Dutch Biography Translation Project

I have a completed English-language biography—roughly 50,000 – 100,000 words—that I now need rendered into natural, engaging Dutch. The text blends narrative storytelling with factual detail, so accuracy and tone both matter; I want Dutch readers to feel they are reading an original work, not a word-for-word conversion.

You’ll be working from the finished manuscript (supplied in Word). Maintaining chapter structure, headings, footnotes and any quotations exactly as they appear is essential. A keen eye for cultural nuance will help you localise idioms and references without losing the author’s voice. If you prefer using a CAT tool such as Trados or memoQ to keep terminology consistent, that’s fine with me—just return a clean, fully formatted file.

Deliverables
• Complete Dutch manuscript in .docx, mirroring original layout
• A tracked-changes version showing your edits
• Short translator’s note summarising tricky terms or stylistic choices

Acceptance criteria
• Dutch prose reads smoothly, free of literal “Englishisms”
• Names, dates, citations and factual data remain unchanged and accurate
• No missing sections; word count stays in the same range as the source
• File opens error-free and matches the layout of the original
