We're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a team responsible for onboarding new customers onto our healthcare payer platform and keeping existing customers running at a high standard of quality, reliability, and satisfaction. You'll work with existing teams and partner closely with a modernization team as the platform integrates into a larger ecosystem.
This is a delivery-and-quality role. The work is customer-facing in consequence: onboarding timelines, data correctness, production stability, and responsiveness to customer–reported issues are what success looks like. You'll be operating on an established platform with established patterns, and your job is to execute against them reliably while raising the bar on engineering quality.
This is a hands-on management role. You will not be expected to write production code day to day, but you are expected to stay close enough to the system to review critical designs and code, spot problems in a PR yourself, and unblock your team on hard technical decisions rather than deferring all technical judgment to senior engineers.
What You'll Own
Customer onboarding delivery
Own end-to-end engineering delivery for new customer implementations – sequencing, staffing, dependencies, and commitments
Surface delivery risks early, and make scope and quality tradeoffs explicit
Partner with Product, Implementation, and Customer Success as the engineering point of contact for onboarding commitments
Running the existing platform
Own production health for your team's surface area: incident response, root cause analysis, and durable fixes over one-off patches
Drive down recurring defect and escalation volume; build mechanisms that prevent recurrence
Improve observability, alerting, and operational readiness for the systems your team owns
Balance customer-driven work against the technical investment needed to keep the platform maintainable
Ecosystem integration and cloud execution
Deliver your team's portion of platform integration work as the product joins a larger ecosystem
Execute your team's scope of the Azure-to-AWS migration, following established architecture patterns and processes set by Architecture and DevOps
Maintain availability and customer experience through migration and integration changes
Engineering quality
Set and hold a high standard for code review, testing, CI/CD discipline, automated testing, and release practices
Ensure appropriate handling of sensitive customer and healthcare data, including access controls and auditability
Keep technical debt visible and negotiate paying it down against delivery pressure
AI-assisted engineering
Establish practical AI-assisted development process on your team – coding, testing, review, debugging, and documentation
Steer usage through guardrails: repo-level agent instructions, prompt and context practices, and CI checks for common AI-generated defects
Coach engineers on effective application of AI
Evaluate what's actually working and adjust; make the practices durable so they don't depend on you personally driving them
People leadership
Hire, onboard, and retain strong engineers
Give direct, timely feedback; address underperformance
Delegate meaningful ownership and grow engineers into larger scope
Build a team environment with real accountability and healthy disagreement
Required Qualifications
8+ years of software engineering experience
3+ years managing engineering teams, with direct ownership of delivery, hiring, performance, and development
Demonstrated technical credibility: able to independently review designs and code, reason about API and data boundaries, evaluate migration and reliability tradeoffs, and challenge engineers on technical decisions
Track record of predictable delivery against external commitments and deadlines
Experience operating a production system with real customers – incident response, quality management, and customer–impacting escalations
Hands-on familiarity with AI-assisted development tooling and a point of view on how to use it well within a team
Preferred Qualifications
Working experience across both AWS and Azure, including multi-cloud or cross-cloud migration work
Experience delivering enterprise B2B SaaS with implementation or onboarding cycles
Experience working in an environment with regulated or sensitive data
***The US base salary range for this full-time position is:
$150,289.00 - $225,434.00The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location.
