We are an Australian structural engineering design firm and need a structural engineer who already knows the ins and outs of local residential codes and construction practices. The job centres on renovation and extension work rather than new-build design, so an ability to analyse existing load paths, identify any retrofit challenges and then integrate new steel, timber or hybrid framing into what is already there is essential.

What I will supply:
• Architectural concept plans in PDF/DWG
• Site photos and any previous structural documents I can gather

What I need from you:
1. An on-point structural design that meets the relevant Australian Standards (AS 1170, AS 1684, AS 4100, etc.) and council requirements.
2. Structural drawings and calculation package suitable for building-permit submission.
3. Two rounds of revisions after council or builder feedback, delivered promptly.

Preferred workflow:
You review the existing drawings, jump on a quick call if anything is unclear, then deliver a preliminary set in DWG and PDF. We fine-tune and we sign off. AutoCAD, SpaceGass or similar analysis tools are all fine by me as long as the final documents are clear, metric and ready for certification.

We would like to have a lodgable package within a week of appointment.
We have more work for the right candidate.

Please keep your proposal short and indicate relevant Australian residential experience, especially extensions or renovations on houses built in the last 30 years.
