We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design & CFD Engineer to create a 3D CAD model of an electric scooter body panel layout from scratch (based on dimension specifications and reference images) and perform an exterior aerodynamic drag optimization using ANSYS Fluent.Since no existing CAD file is available, the freelancer will be responsible for generating the clean 3D body geometry, constructing a virtual wind tunnel domain, meshing, and executing the CFD simulation to calculate drag reduction.Key Scope of Work & Deliverables:3D CAD Surface Modeling (From Scratch):Build a 3D surface model of generic/concept electric scooter body panels using reference dimensions and layout guidelines in Siemens NX, SolidWorks, CATIA, or ANSYS SpaceClaim.Ensure geometry is smooth, aerodynamic, and completely watertight (no open seams or gaps) for CFD compatibility.Virtual Wind Tunnel Domain & Cleanup:Create an external flow fluid domain/enclosure box around the scooter body (2x vehicle length upstream, 5–7x downstream wake area).Perform de-featuring to keep the outer aerodynamic surfaces clean.Meshing & Boundary Layer Setup:Generate an efficient mesh with fine boundary layer inflation layers ($y^+ \approx 1$) along the scooter body surfaces.Maintain acceptable mesh quality (Max Skewness $< 0.85$, Orthogonal Quality $> 0.15$).ANSYS Fluent Simulation & Aerodynamic Analysis:Set up a steady-state $k-\omega$ SST turbulence model at typical electric scooter cruising speeds (30–50 km/h / ~10–14 m/s).Extract Total Drag Force ($F_d$) and Coefficient of Drag ($C_d$).Provide visual post-processing outputs: pressure contours, velocity streamlines, and flow separation wake plots.Required Skills & Expertise:3D CAD Software: Siemens NX, SolidWorks, CATIA, or ANSYS SpaceClaim / DiscoveryCFD Software: ANSYS Fluent, ANSYS WorkbenchDomain Knowledge: External Aerodynamics, Automotive Body Panel Design, Mesh Generation, Turbulence ModelingProject Timeline & Deliverables:Turnaround: 3 to 5 DaysDeliverables:Clean 3D CAD file (.step / .stp / native format).ANSYS Workbench (.wbpj) or Fluent case/data files.Summary slides/report with $C_d$ calculations, velocity streamlines, and pressure plot screenshots.
