Overview
I am commissioning a fully illustrated children’s book aimed squarely at readers aged 5–10. The book will run at a minimum of 72 pages (excluding front and back matter) and function as a standalone title ideal for classroom reading or home libraries.
Theme & Educational Focus
Central Theme: A single, high-interest topic (e.g., Ancient Engineering, Ocean Exploration, or Space & Astronomy).
Tri-Subject Integration: The narrative and activity layouts must naturally weave together Science, Math, and History in equal measure around the central theme.
Tone: Engaging, story-driven, and interactive so young readers absorb core lessons without feeling lectured.
Illustration & Visual Style
Artwork: Full-colour, cartoon-style illustrations on every spread.
Aesthetic: Expressive, relatable characters, vibrant background scenes, clear diagrams, and clean visual breakdowns that spark curiosity and remain easy to parse for emerging readers.
Deliverables
Fully Edited Manuscript: Minimum 72 interior pages written to an age-appropriate reading level (Lexile ~500L–650L / Flesch-Kincaid grade level).
Original Print-Ready Artwork: High-resolution CMYK PDFs for print, plus layered source files (.PSD or .AI) for all illustrations, covers, and diagrams.
Cover & Layout Design: Complete cover design (front, back, and spine) and formatted interior layout, leaving dedicated space for visual sidebars, glossary terms, fun facts, and quick-fire quizzes.
Full Copyright Transfer: Complete assignment and transfer of intellectual property rights upon final payment.
Acceptance Criteria
Balanced Content: Interweaves core principles of Science, Math, and History into a cohesive story or theme.
Target Readability: Language, sentence structure, and vocabulary match a 5–10 year-old reading level.
Length: Final interior page count is at least 72 pages (excluding front/back matter).
Quality & Authenticity: 100% original high-resolution artwork and text that pass all standard plagiarism and AI-image verification checks.
