Project: EdgeCache – Video CDN Cache Simulator
I already have the project implemented locally. It is a simulation/demo of how a real-world CDN works for video delivery.
The project currently runs locally and has NOT been deployed. I want deployment to be part of the work.
Core concept:
User → Edge Cache → Origin Server
When a user requests a video segment:
* If the segment exists in the edge cache → Cache HIT → serve from cache
* If it does not exist → Cache MISS → retrieve from origin → store in edge cache → serve to user
* The system tracks cache hits, misses and hit ratio.
* LRU-style eviction is used to prevent the cache from growing indefinitely.
Current technology:
* Frontend: React + Vite
* Backend: Node.js + Express
* Video processing: FFmpeg
* Streaming: HLS + hls.js
* Upload handling: Multer
* HTTP requests: Axios
* Docker is available/currently used for the backend
Current functionality includes:
* Video upload
* Origin storage
* HLS playlist generation
* Video segment generation
* Cache HIT/MISS handling
* Cache statistics/dashboard
* LRU-style cache eviction

What I need from you:
1. Inspect and understand the existing code before making changes.
2. Fix existing bugs/issues.
3. Improve the UI and dashboard.
4. Improve the cache HIT/MISS demonstration.
5. Make the LRU eviction mechanism reliable.
6. Add useful performance/statistical metrics.
7. Improve error handling and code structure.
8. Add a few meaningful features that fit the CDN/cache simulation.
9. Make the complete project production/deployment ready.
10. Deploy the frontend and backend so that I can demonstrate the project through a live URL.
11. Ensure video upload, HLS streaming, cache HIT/MISS, statistics and other important functionality work after deployment.
12. Provide complete source code and deployment/configuration details.
Deployment is important because this is a demonstration of how CDN/edge caching works in a real-world scenario. I want to be able to demonstrate the complete flow using a live deployed application.
I will also provide:
* Existing project/source code
* Sample final major project report
* Sample PPT
* College report format/guidelines if available
The report and PPT must be based on the ACTUAL final implementation.
The report should follow the structure, formatting and level of detail of my sample report, but the technical content must be specific to EdgeCache.
Do not add features to the report that are not actually implemented.
Do not fabricate performance results, screenshots or statistics.
Use screenshots from the actual deployed project wherever possible.
Please quote separately:
* Project improvements
* Deployment
* Final report
* PPT
Also tell me how many revisions are included and what happens if the final report does not follow the sample format or does not match the implementation.
