I am kicking off the E-Land Project, a web-based platform that will handle land registration, digital title deeds, interactive mapping and, later on, seamless land transactions. Before anything else I need the core architecture planned, the secure database designed and a rock-solid user-authentication layer in place; that is the very first milestone.
Your task
Design, build and deploy the back-end and front-end foundations that future modules can plug into. Security, scalability and GIS readiness are non-negotiable. I am leaning toward PostgreSQL/PostGIS, but I am open to expert recommendations if you can justify better options. The mapping engine may use Leaflet, OpenLayers, Mapbox GL JS or another modern alternative—your call, provided it supports parcel overlays, coordinate searches and tiled imagery.
Key expectations
• A documented system architecture (ER diagrams, component diagrams, technology stack rationale).
• Role-based authentication and authorisation implemented, ready for expansion to multiple user groups.
• An initial database schema that stores parcel boundaries, ownership metadata and transaction history, encrypted where appropriate.
• A small proof-of-concept web interface that connects to the API, authenticates users and displays a sample map layer.
• Automated tests and CI scripts so each new module can be integrated with confidence.
• Deployment scripts or container images that let me spin the MVP up on AWS, Azure or GCP with minimal friction.
Acceptance criteria
1. A fresh instance installs from a single command and exposes secured REST or GraphQL endpoints.
2. After sign-up and login, a test user can query a sample parcel and see the boundary rendered on the web map.
3. Code passes all supplied tests and basic vulnerability scans.
4. Clear, step-by-step documentation lets another developer reproduce the environment in under one hour.
