About Menlo
Menlo Research is an Applied R&D lab building Asimov, an open-source humanoid robot platform, and the full software stack that powers it. Our mission is to make humanoid labor economically viable, turning software into physical labor at scale. We build across the full stack: hardware architecture, locomotion, autonomy, simulation, and infrastructure. We move fast, ship to real robots, and open-source everything we can. If you want your work to matter beyond a paper or a demo, this is the place.
The Role
We are hiring our first E-commerce Lead to launch and own from zero to one.
Menlo builds in public, and our community of developers, builders, and robotics fans wants to wear it, carry it, and be part of it. Companies like 1X and Figure have shown how a great store turns a robotics brand into something people can hold. We want ours to be better, and we want one person to own the whole thing. This is a founding, full-stack commerce role. You will pick the platform, build the storefront, source the products, set up fulfillment, run the launches, and own the numbers. You will start with merch and community products. Because Asimov is open, modular, and built with a right to repair, you will also have a path to grow the store into kits, spare parts, and hardware components over time. If you have wanted to build a store end to end, with real creative range and a brand people already love, this is it.
What You'll Do
Stand up from scratch, including platform selection, storefront build, checkout, payments, and tax setup across Singapore, Vietnam, the US, and international customers
Build the first product line with our brand and design team, from apparel and accessories to limited drops that reflect the Menlo and Asimov identity
Own merchandising and the launch calendar, including pricing, product mix, seasonal drops, and tie-ins with product launches and community moments
Set up and manage fulfillment, from print on demand and 3PL partners to inventory, packaging, and global shipping
Own the store P&L, including margins, unit economics, and forecasting, and report on what is working
Drive growth and conversion through analytics, email and lifecycle flows, landing pages, and merchandising experiments
Run customer experience end to end, including support, returns, and the post purchase journey
Partner with DevRel, community, and supply chain to plan the path from merch into Asimov kits, spare parts, and modular components
Represent the store voice so every touchpoint feels like Menlo: open, technical, and built in public
What We Look For
Proven experience launching or running a direct to consumer store, ideally on Shopify, and taking it from setup to steady operation
A generalist who can move across merchandising, operations, and growth without waiting for a bigger team
Comfort with zero to one, where you make the call, ship it, and iterate
Solid grasp of fulfillment and logistics, including 3PL, print on demand, inventory, and cross border shipping
Data fluency, so pricing, margin, and conversion decisions are grounded in numbers
Strong brand and product taste, with an eye for what a technical, design-led audience will actually want
Nice to Have
Shopify Plus experience, or hands on comfort with themes, apps, and Liquid
Existing relationships with print on demand and 3PL vendors
Experience selling physical or hardware products, including spare parts or kit style catalogs
Merch or community commerce experience for a developer, gaming, or open source brand
Genuine interest in robotics, open source, and building in public
Why Join Menlo
This is your store to build, not a queue of tickets. You will own a surface end to end, for a brand people already love and a community of developers who want to represent it. The range is real: you go from shipping the first t-shirt to shaping how we sell kits, parts, and hardware down the line. If you want to turn a brand people love into something they can hold, this is where it happens.
A Note on AI
You don't need deep AI expertise for every role, but we do expect everyone at Menlo to be intellectually curious, drawn to tinkering and discovery, and excited to use AI as a real collaborator in their work. For some roles, AI fluency is a core requirement. When that's the case, we'll say so explicitly in the qualifications. People who thrive here don't treat AI as a novelty. They use it to think better, and make their work easier for others to build on.
Equal Opportunity and Accommodations
We hire talented people from a wide range of backgrounds. If you're excited about a role but don't meet every bullet, we still encourage you to apply. Menlo Research is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of any legally protected characteristic. Menlo provides reasonable accommodations during the application process. If you need one, please let your recruiter know.
