Hello to all freelance mixing engineers!
I play in a two-piece band and it's not called Angine de Pornodrine or Clowncore but Fakus, the hairy arabic cucumber. The band is acoustic drums, bass guitar and vocals. We've got a bit less than half an hour of materials recorded at our rehearsal point and we want to mix it and release it to the world. So we need YOU to mix and master our masterpiece.
Now let's get to the details.
We want to audition mixes from different people to decide whom to work with. For that we've chosen one short song. The whole job will be 11 rather short songs. As the drums were recorded in just two sessions with approximately the same mic placement once you've found the proper settings there will only be adjustments and not totally different mixes from song to song. The whole instrumentation is just drums and bass. There are small overdubs here and there, some sound effects but overall, it's very minimal. Just drums and bass, so the mix must be kicking hard to compensate for the lack of orchestration.
If you're afraid we will snatch your mix for free you can send mp3 or cut the tail or the song. The project is not one song, it's the whole album, 11 mixes with masters. It might appear too cheap but again, it's just two instruments and same mic placement, so it's almost like mixing a continuous live session.
Some notes:
It's not a pro studio recording and there's a limited number of channels. We've done it with a portable 8 track. For drums you've got the minimal setup of bass drum, snare (or two snares), room stereo pair and a front mic. There were also overheads on one session but the mics were not really good so you may decide to discard that channel. Bass is split into dry bass signal (place it in the center and get the lows out of that channel) and a stereo FX with some distortion. Together it should sound massive.
Vocals were recorded with two mics, a bad quality taxi cab mic with some distortion and a condenser.
There's a box directory containing all the stems and a dry mp3 mix for reference. Here's the link to all the files:

I was thinking about references and all sorts of ideas, but guess I can summarize it like this: make it sound good, professional, and groovy. We're not looking to sound like anyone else, so if that will sound unique - that's the goal. And most important - have fun, it's a fun project with fun music.
To all AI bidders who claim to do it for $300 during one day - please calm. This is a long time project, it should take time and I will renew the listing later to allow live humans to drop me an audition mix.
