Documentary-Style Current Affairs YouTube Video Editor

I am looking for a skilled video editor to create a high-quality documentary/explainer video for my YouTube channel, Mrityunjay Pal.

The channel focuses on explaining complex real-world issues, current affairs, governance, society, economy and public-policy-related topics through clear storytelling, evidence and strong visuals.

The video will be approximately 8–12 minutes and will be primarily voice-over driven. I will provide the final script, voice-over/narration and relevant research/source material.

I need an editor who can transform the narration into a polished, engaging documentary rather than simply placing stock footage over the voice-over.

Editing style

I am looking for a modern documentary/explainer style inspired by high-quality YouTube journalism and documentary channels.

The edit should include:

• Strong visual storytelling that follows the narration
• Carefully selected real-world B-roll and archival footage
• Maps, diagrams, timelines, charts and simple explanatory graphics where useful
• Clean typography and subtle on-screen text
• Professional colour correction/grading
• Natural, cinematic sound design
• Background music that supports the story without overpowering the narration
• Smooth, purposeful transitions
• Good pacing and retention without excessive effects
• Occasional creative visual techniques when they genuinely improve understanding

The narration should remain the master of the edit. Every major visual should either explain, illustrate or emotionally support what is being said.

I specifically want to avoid a generic “stock footage + zoom + transition” editing style. The final video should feel like a thoughtfully produced documentary/explainer.

Creative freedom

I will provide the script, narration, research and general direction, but I am not looking to micromanage the edit.

If you have a better idea for a visual, animation, transition, sound effect, pacing choice or storytelling technique, please feel free to use your creativity.

I value storytelling and visual thinking more than simply adding effects.
