Django Backend Development with PostgreSQL

I’m building a web-based application that will have roughly 30–50 concurrent users and I need the entire backend put in place. My stack choice is clear: Django for the framework and PostgreSQL for the relational database.

Core functionality I’m expecting: secure user authentication, robust data storage that scales smoothly as usage grows, and clean API integrations so the front-end team can consume endpoints without friction. I already have the high-level data model sketched out, so we can dive straight into designing the schema, wiring up Django models, and exposing RESTful endpoints (DRF is fine, but I’m open to GraphQL if you can show a strong case).

Deliverables
• Fully-configured Django project running on PostgreSQL
• User auth flow (registration, login, password reset) with best-practice security settings
• CRUD endpoints for the primary data objects, documented via Swagger or similar
• Integration layer ready for at least one external API, plus stubs for future additions
• Deployment-ready settings (env-based config, migrations, basic unit tests)

Acceptance criteria: automated tests pass, Swagger docs render without errors, and the project spins up in Docker (or a simple README-guided local setup). Once this baseline is solid we’ll look at caching, background tasks, and performance tuning, but phase one is all about getting a clean, maintainable backend in place.
