Role Overview
The Detailer Lead - Plumbing supports construction projects through the creation, coordination, and management of plumbing shop drawings and BIM models, leading the plumbing detailing team and constructability efforts on generally smaller and less complex projects.
This role focuses on plumbing-specific trade coordination and technical leadership, partnering closely with the design and modeling group and leading the final trade sign-off process for plumbing scope. This is a remote role.
This role may be filled at varying levels based on the candidate's skills, experience, and overall qualifications. Final title, level, and compensation will be determined through the interview and assessment process and will be aligned with internal equity and external market benchmarks.
Core Responsibilities
Lead the plumbing detailing team and constructability efforts on generally smaller and less complex projects
Partner with the design and modeling group to incorporate plumbing constructability knowledge in a timely manner to minimize model rework
Lead communication among project team members on plumbing coordination and scope; ensure concerns are addressed and resolved
Provide material, content, and feedback to plumbing detailers on the team
Lead the final plumbing trade coordination and sign-off process with the general contractor
Contribute to the design pull schedule to direct model development for plumbing scope of work
Manage resources assigned to plumbing detailing tasks
Participate in conceptual design for plumbing systems supporting modular construction and constructability standards
Review and QA/QC plumbing shop drawings and models prior to release
Support budget planning and maintain cost accountability for plumbing detailing work
Required Background
High School diploma or GED and minimum of 6 years of progressive plumbing detailing experience, or completed plumbing trade apprenticeship program and 4 years of related field experience
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction, or a related field preferred
Field Foreman or General Foreman experience in the plumbing trade preferred
Proficient verbal and written communication skills
Ability to write, edit, and proofread content
Ability to read and interpret plumbing construction documents and specifications
Current, hands-on knowledge of plumbing and piping trades and field installation methods
Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring plumbing detailers
Strong attention to detail and quality control on plumbing shop drawings
Ability to coordinate projects
Ability to multi-task and prioritize
Ability to interpret the construction schedule to integrate a design pull schedule
Working knowledge of applicable AEC, BIM, and CAD software (Navisworks, Revit, AutoCAD)
