Deploy SolarWinds NPM from Scratch

I have an active SolarWinds Observability Self-Hosted Essentials for Enterprise licence (EE1500, covering up to 1 500 nodes) and now need Network Performance Monitor installed and fully configured in a brand-new environment. Nothing from SolarWinds is running yet, so the engagement starts with clean servers and blank databases.

What I need is complete, production-ready deployment: sizing and architecture guidance, Windows Server and SQL prerequisites, installation of the NPM engine, web console, additional polling engines or HA pairs if your design shows we need them, followed by initial discovery and onboarding of devices. Once the platform is stable I also want core alerting rules, reports and dashboards set up so my team can see value on day one.

Deliverables
• Design document that maps EE1500 capacity to server roles, storage and network requirements
• End-to-end installation and configuration of SolarWinds NPM 2024.x (or latest stable) in our data centre via remote session
• Discovery and successful polling of a representative device set (≈50 nodes) with clearly documented steps for expanding to the full estate
• At least five custom alerts and two summary dashboards demonstrating best-practice tuning
• Handover session plus runbook covering backup, patching and basic troubleshooting

Acceptance criteria: the web console loads without errors, all discovered devices show green status for at least 24 hours, sample alerts trigger as designed, and documentation is complete.
