Job Title:
3D CAD Designer Needed for Simple, Low-Cost Plastic Medical Device Prototyping (Dental)
Job Description:
I am looking for an experienced CAD designer to create a 3D model (.STL and .STEP files) for a simple, single-piece disposable plastic cap that snaps onto standard dental mouth mirrors.
This is a low-budget project aimed at creating an initial prototype. The design must be incredibly clean and optimized for high-volume, low-cost injection molding (no complex side-actions or undercuts in the mold).
Product Specifications:
• Function: A thin, optically clear plastic shield that snaps over a standard dental mirror to protect it and manage water/fog.
• Dimensions: I need two variations of the same design to fit standard dental mirror sizes:
1. Size #4 (22mm outer diameter)
2. Size #5 (24mm outer diameter)
• Key Features to Model:
1. Cantilevered Snap Rim: A small, flexible plastic lip around the edge that deflects and snaps firmly onto the metal backing of the mirror.
2. Ejection Tab: A tiny thumb-notch or tab on the back edge so the user can easily pop the cap off.
3. Micro-Spacers: 3 to 4 microscopic internal bumps (approx. 0.05mm high) on the inside rim to prevent a vacuum seal against the mirror face.
4. Flat Optical Window: The front face must be perfectly flat with no mold gates or extrusion artifacts in the center line of sight.
Deliverables:
• 3D CAD files in .STEP format (for manufacturing)
• .STL files (ready for 3D printing)
