The main project is moving from Deltek Vision 7.6.1703.608 (on-premise, SQL Server) to Deltek Vantagepoint (cloud-based). The company is located in Tigard, Oregon but everyone involved is fully comfortable with someone working remotely using OpenConnect VPN. I am a friend to the company (not an employee) who is helping them find someone to complete this project. The upgrade and migration portions of this project can happen in any order. They have Flex licensing with 5 CRM licenses and 5 Resource Planning licenses. They have some secondary training/education needs because there is no longer significant application expertise among their staff. For example, they need to know how the security is configured in their current security roles and they need to know details on how to create new security roles. They need to know about differences between Vision & Vantagepoint and learn about new features that can help them. But their application knowledge isn't even at the level of knowing which questions to ask.
Here are further details which may be relevant. The company has been using Deltek software for about 15 years, but most of the decisions were made 10-15 years ago. For at least the last 6 years they have just had cumulative updates applied for them with no significant changes. They have a relationship with a Deltek partner, but they describe that relationship as "responsive, but not helpful" in getting any questions answered. That is why they are looking to bring in someone from outside to do this project. For example, they asked questions about the migration process for the documents that are linked within the application and stored locally on one of their servers (less than 1 TB, mostly .pdfs and files created with Microsoft Word). They asked about creating new roles because they know their current ones are inadequate. But they weren't able to get any helpful answers to any of their questions. They have an internal IT staff member and a relationship with a managed-service provider, but both are described as completely hands-off when it relates to any applications. The people you would be working with directly are happy to do any tasks that you need them to complete, but they may need more specific guidance than other clients. The only customizations they are aware they need are user-definable fields which have been defined to show things like longitude and latitude related to their projects. Custom reports exist, but they don't think they have a need to use those and would like them out of the environment. But that is another area where they don't have the knowledge to know for certain that they are not being used and their partner was unable to answer their questions. There would be two users that you would work with most often, the CFO/acting COO and one of the accountants. The security-related discussions might involve a third user responsible for setting up access. After I perform the introductions and help them get information they will need to help you be successful, I won't be a participant on the project. After the introductory meetings, one thing they will need from you is a rough time estimate for how long you would need to directly work with each of their staff members mentioned above so they can plan for that.
I'm happy to answer any other questions you have, though since I'm not an employee there, I might not be able to answer everything.
