Data EngineerLocation: Remote (India)
Experience: 4+ Years
Employment Type: Full-Time
Company: indigoChart Technologies India Pvt. Ltd.About indigoChart:

indigoChart takes pride in delivering excellence by collaborating with decision-makers to execute on their Data Modernization Strategies.

We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join our dynamic team and play a key role in designing and building the data pipelines that power our customers' analytics use cases.

About the Role:

We're looking for a skilled Data Engineer with 4+ years' experience to join our remote team and take ownership of designing, building, and operating data pipelines across our customers' evolving technical stacks. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to make a significant impact in an innovation-driven environment.

You'll design, build, and own data pipelines that power analytics and downstream applications - working across ingestion, transformation, and delivery of clean, reliable data at scale.

This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys solving real data problems, writing solid code, and taking ownership of what they build in production.

Location:

100% Remote, based in India, serving global clients with reasonable time-zone overlap.

Key ResponsibilitiesData Pipeline Design & Development:

Work across a modern data stack spanning Snowflake (data warehouse) and Databricks (data processing platform) to build and run end-to-end data pipelines.

Design and develop custom data pipelines for data extraction, transformation, and loading using Python, SQL, and dbt.

Build and maintain automated, tested, and version-controlled data transformation logic using dbt across the data warehouse layer.

Data & Platform Engineering:

Operate production data pipelines on one or more major cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).

Support data orchestration and workflow tools (e.g., Airflow, Prefect, or equivalent) to schedule and monitor pipelines reliably.

Technical Ownership:

Provide thought leadership by recommending the right technologies and solutions for a given use case, from the application layer to infrastructure.

Stand behind your recommendations and explain technical decisions clearly, both internally and to customers.

Explore new technologies to continually uncover better, more automated ways to solve data engineering problems.

Quality, Performance & Collaboration:

Ensure performance, security, scalability, and robust data integration across all delivered pipelines.

Follow the complete software development lifecycle — design, documentation, implementation, testing, and deployment.

Collaborate with and help fellow data engineers learn and grow, translating customer needs into dependable, production-ready solutions.

Requirements

What We're Looking For:

4+ years of professional experience as a Data Engineer (or in a role with heavy data pipeline/SQL responsibility).

Strong Python skills: comfortable writing production code, not just notebooks; familiar with good software practices (functions, modules, testing, error handling).

Strong SQL skills: can write, debug, and optimize complex queries; understand indexing, joins, and query performance at a practical level.

Hands-on experience with Databricks: Spark-based data processing, notebooks, job orchestration, and working with Delta Lake.

Solid understanding of data engineering fundamentals.

Experience working with at least one cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

Version control (Git) and basic CI/CD exposure for deploying pipeline code.

Experience working directly with stakeholders to translate business needs into data solutions.

Good to have:

Experience with Snowflake (querying, modeling, or migrating workloads to/from it).

Experience with dbt or similar transformation frameworks.

Exposure to workflow orchestration tools like Airflow or Prefect.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.

4+ years of experience as a Data Engineer with Software Engineering skills with production experience in one or more core data platforms.

Strong analytical mindset with excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work collaboratively in a startup environment that values speed, ownership, and innovation.

Benefits

Why indigoChart?
