Custom Japanese Dragon Cover-Up Tattoo

I am looking for an experienced tattoo artist/designer to create a custom Japanese dragon cover-up tattoo for my arm.

I will provide 3 main references, and it is very important to understand how I want each one to be used.

REFERENCE 1 – FLAMES / MOVEMENT

From the first reference, what I mainly like are the flames.

I love the way they create an impression of:

* movement
* speed
* aggression
* energy
* direction

I do NOT want to copy this dragon.

I mainly want to take inspiration from the movement and style of the flames.

The flames should feel alive and dynamic, almost as if they are moving with the dragon.

This is especially important on the lower forearm, because I want this area to look much more aggressive and visually powerful.

REFERENCE 2 – MAIN DRAGON STYLE

The second reference is the main artistic direction for the dragon.

I really like this tattoo and want to keep the same general feeling.

I especially like:

* the dragon’s head
* the body and scales
* the strong black presence
* the red / black / grey color combination
* the thick and readable lines
* the Japanese tattoo feeling
* the balance between black areas and visible dragon details

I want the final dragon to stay much closer to this reference than to Reference 1.

IMPORTANT:

Please keep a similar style of dragon head.

I really like the aggressive expression and overall appearance of this dragon.

I also want to keep a lot of black, because I like the strong contrast and it will also help with the cover-up.

The final palette should mainly remain:

BLACK + RED + GREY + skin/negative space

I do not want the tattoo to become too colorful.

THE BASIC IDEA

The simplest way to describe what I want is:

Take the overall dragon style, head, body, black presence and colors from Reference 2, but give it much more dynamic and aggressive flames inspired by Reference 1.

It should be an original design adapted to my arm — NOT a direct copy of either tattoo.

FOREARM – EXTREMELY IMPORTANT

The main area I want to improve is the forearm.

I want the lower part of the tattoo to look:

* aggressive
* powerful
* fast
* dynamic
* complete

I do not want the design to lose energy as it reaches the forearm.

Actually, I want the opposite:

the forearm should be one of the strongest and most aggressive parts of the entire tattoo.

Use the dragon body/tail, flames, red, black and shadows intelligently to create this effect.

Lower ending / tail

I would prefer the lower dragon body / tail to finish in a relatively straight, elongated and aggressive direction, rather than ending in a big round curl.

The composition should naturally continue toward the lower forearm.

Then the flames can interact with this area to make the ending more powerful.

I want a beautiful transition between:

dragon → tail/body → flames → black/shadows

without turning everything into one giant black block.

FLAMES

Flames are one of the most important elements of this project.

Please do not use basic/static flames simply filling empty spaces.

I want flames that visually communicate:

MOVEMENT + SPEED + AGGRESSION

They can move sideways and follow the direction of the dragon instead of all pointing vertically.

Some can be larger and some smaller depending on the anatomy and cover-up requirements.

The most important thing is that they feel integrated with the dragon.

COVER-UP – VERY IMPORTANT

This is not simply a dragon tattoo project.

This is a real cover-up.

The design must be built around my existing tattoos.

I will provide photos showing all the tattoos that need to be covered or integrated.

The new design should strategically use:

* black areas
* red areas
* dragon body
* scales
* flames
* legs/claws
* shadows
* background

to hide the existing tattoos as effectively as possible.

I understand that a cover-up cannot always make 100% of an old tattoo disappear.

That is completely understandable.

However, I want the design to be optimized specifically for my arm, not simply a beautiful dragon created separately and then placed over the old tattoos.

REFERENCE 3 – CURRENT DRAFT FROM ANOTHER DESIGNER

The third reference is the current work made by another designer.

I am sending this mainly so you can understand:

* the approximate placement
* the anatomy of my arm
* the existing tattoo locations
* the cover-up challenges
* some ideas that have already been explored

PLEASE DO NOT SIMPLY COPY THIS DESIGN.

You are free to propose a better composition.

The goal is to create a stronger, cleaner and more professional version based primarily on References 1 and 2 and adapted properly to my real arm.

GENERAL LOOK

The final tattoo should feel:

* masculine
* powerful
* aggressive
* elegant
* mature
* clean
* professional

I want strong Japanese tattoo energy without making it:

* gothic
* demonic
* excessively dark
* messy
* overloaded
* impossible to read from a distance

There can be a lot of black, because I like that look, but the dragon must remain clearly readable.

BODY PLACEMENT

The tattoo must be designed around the real anatomy of my arm.

Please think about how the tattoo looks from:

* outside of the arm
* inside of the arm
* front
* side
* 3/4 angle

The composition must work when the arm moves and when viewed from different directions.

FINAL MOCKUP – IMPORTANT

Before finalizing the project, I would like to see a digital preview of the tattoo placed on the arm from several angles.

This can be done using:

* Procreate
* Photoshop
* 3D software
* or another professional method

Ideally I would like:

* outer arm view
* inner arm view
* side view
* front / 3/4 view
* wider view showing the complete arm

I want to clearly understand how the tattoo wraps around my arm before it is tattooed.

DELIVERABLES

I would ideally like:

1. Original custom dragon design
2. Design specifically optimized for my cover-up
3. Clean flat tattoo artwork
4. High-resolution final files
5. Multi-angle body/arm mockup
6. Editable source file if possible

If possible, during the design process I would also prefer important elements such as the dragon, flames and background to remain editable separately so revisions are easier.

In one sentence:

I want the dragon style, head, black/red/grey colors and strong black presence of Reference 2, combined with the dynamic moving flames of Reference 1, adapted intelligently to my existing tattoos, with a much more aggressive and powerful forearm.

Please send me examples of your previous Japanese dragon, sleeve or cover-up tattoo designs before applying.
