I need a full-featured e-commerce website built from the ground up—no Shopify, no off-the-shelf themes. A completely custom solution will give me the flexibility I need for long-term growth and brand control.
Core requirements
• User accounts with secure registration, social login optional, and a simple dashboard for order history and saved items.
• Product reviews and star ratings that can be moderated from the admin panel.
• Fast, intuitive search with filters (price, category, rating, point value, etc.) and real-time suggestions.
• Every product carries a point value that is automatically tallied at checkout; accumulated points serve as entries in an ongoing sweepstakes / prize giveaway, so the cart and account pages must display running totals clearly.
• Products are sourced directly from AliExpress. They need to arrive in my catalogue via automated API calls, not manual uploads. The sync should pull images, variations, inventory counts, and pricing, and let me adjust mark-ups before publishing.
Technical expectations
The stack is up to you—Laravel, Django, Node.js, or another robust framework—as long as it’s secure, performant, and documented. I’ll need:
1. A RESTful back end, cleanly structured for future mobile-app use.
2. A modern, responsive front end (React, Vue, or standard server-rendered templates—convince me).
3. AliExpress API integration or a reliable custom bridge that fetches, maps, and updates product data on a schedule I can configure.
4. Admin dashboard for catalogue, orders, users, reviews, giveaway points, and basic analytics.
5. Stripe and PayPal payment gateways to start, with room to add Klarna and Apple Pay later.
6. Deployment scripts or Docker setup so I can reproduce the environment on staging and production servers.
Acceptance criteria
• Page load under 2 s on desktop (Lighthouse 90+ performance score).
• AliExpress product sync runs without manual intervention and logs errors visibly.
• Checkout accurately records and displays sweepstakes points.
• OWASP top-10 vulnerabilities addressed; user data encrypted in transit and at rest.
• Full source code in Git with commit history, plus a brief README for setup and deployment.
If this aligns with your expertise, let’s discuss timeline and phased milestones so we can launch a rock-solid store and scale from there.
