I’ve removed the plastic engine cover from my Mercedes M271 and I’m ready to send it to someone in the UK who can turn it into a genuine one-off. The job is twofold: create the artwork and apply the finish yourself.

Artwork brief
I’m torn between three themes—Polish patriotic elements, a rich floral motif, or something with a renaissance feel. Surprise me within those boundaries and pitch any concept sketches you think will work on the curved surface.

Finish
I haven’t settled on a method yet, so feel free to advise. Paint, hydro-dip, laminate or any other durable coating is acceptable as long as it copes with under-bonnet temperatures and looks factory-smooth once cleared and polished. Also, the cover will be coated with a heat resistant spray/gloss, so the method of application must be compatible with such coatings.

What I’ll need from you
• Concept visuals for sign-off before you start coating
• Surface prep, priming and the complete coating process carried out in-house
• A tough clear coat to seal everything
• High-resolution photos of the finished piece before you send it back
• Safe return shipping to me

I’ll post the cover to you once we agree on the design timeline and turnaround. Let me know your preferred coating process, estimated duration and examples of similar work you’ve done on plastic or automotive parts.
