Custom Android ROM for MediaTek MT8168 Tablet

MediaTek MT8168 Custom Android ROM Installation & Technical Support

I’m looking for an experienced Android/MediaTek developer who can provide step-by-step technical guidance for installing or porting a fully functional custom Android ROM to a MediaTek MT8168-based tablet.

The tablet currently has a restricted Android installation, and my goal is to replace it with a clean, stable, fully functional Android version that is properly configured for the device hardware.

I am currently working with the tablet in its original, unrooted Android state. I do not have root access at this time, so I will need guidance on the appropriate process for gaining the necessary access and preparing the device for the ROM installation.

If I need a rooted state or a Linux environment, that can be done.

Depending on the device and existing firmware, the project may involve:

- Identifying suitable firmware or a compatible ROM base
- Determining the appropriate bootloader/unlock procedure
- Establishing the necessary level of device access
- Backing up the original firmware and important partitions
- Modifying or patching boot/system/vendor images when necessary
- Preparing and flashing the ROM
- Troubleshooting boot loops, driver issues, partition errors, or compatibility problems
- Verifying that the final Android installation is stable and functional

This will be a remote technical guidance project. You will not have physical or remote access to the tablet. I will perform the procedures on my device while following your instructions and can provide screenshots, logs, device information, and test results as needed.

I am comfortable following technical instructions and working through the process step by step. I’m looking for someone who can explain each stage clearly and help troubleshoot any problems that occur rather than simply providing a generic ROM flashing guide.

The main objective is to take the tablet from its current unrooted stock Android installation to a clean, working custom Android ROM, while minimizing the risk of permanently damaging or bricking the device.
