As the Credit Risk Strategy Vice President, you will play a pivotal role in leading credit risk, underwriting and pricing strategies for banking and Fintech clients. This position requires extensive lending experience and the ability to launch and scale consumer and commercial credit programs. You will work closely with senior executives and bank partners, build and develop credit risk teams, and translate analytical insights into credit policies and business decisions. Your leadership, problem-solving skills, product sense and ability to work effectively cross-functionally will be key to your success.
Responsibilities:
Serve as senior client contact, engaging with C-level executives and bank partners, representing internal credit capabilities and providing risk consulting services.
Lead credit and pricing strategies for co-brand, consumer and commercial credit card programs, from launch through scale.
Oversee portfolio performance and account management across portfolio types and risk segments, balancing growth, credit losses and profitability.
Track approval rates, new accounts, loss rates, profit margins and funnel trends; report KPIs and recommendations to senior management and external stakeholders.
Build, review and refine consumer and commercial underwriting models using advanced statistical modeling and data science.
Monitor credit performance and market trends to adjust credit policies, test underwriting strategies and refine pricing across origination channels.
Strengthen underwriting and risk documentation; work with bank partners on model validation and governance.
Partner with Product and Data teams to build credit decisioning platforms and data strategies using financial, bank and third-party datasets to automate underwriting.
Align stakeholders across Credit Risk, Product, Risk Operations / Servicing, Finance and Analytics to deliver credit programs and policy changes.
Build, mentor and scale high-performing credit risk teams; lead analytical delivery with onshore and offshore teams for smooth execution.
Qualifications:
12-15+ years of experience in credit underwriting, credit risk strategy and portfolio performance management, including at major banks, along with consulting, solution design and client management experience
Expertise in Excel and SQL modeling, with strong programming and data analytics experience in R or Python
Credit policy optimization and credit strategy expertise across acquisitions, underwriting and account management; proven track record in co-brand credit programs, subprime lending, consumer credit cards and commercial credit cards
Strong understanding of advanced statistical modeling, underwriting model development, model validation and credit risk governance, including working with bank partners
Demonstrable leadership ability, superior problem solving and people management skills; an entrepreneurial approach to building and scaling credit programs and developing high-performing teams
Excellent communication, presentation and story building skills in a consulting setup, with the ability to represent our client credibly with senior executives, clients and bank partners
Experience in capital markets, including asset-backed securities (ABS), securitization and warehouse lines, and fraud management highly preferred
Ability to combine traditional banking rigor with Fintech pace, work effectively cross-functionally and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in finance, business, accounting, economics, statistics, mathematics or a related field; master's degree in a relevant discipline preferred. An advanced statistical background, including a PhD in statistics, mathematics or a quantitative field, is strongly preferred
