Hena is a location-based social platform designed to connect people with what is happening around them in their city.
The core idea is to combine a social media experience similar to X with local discovery through an interactive map. Instead of focusing mainly on global content, Hena prioritizes people, places, activities, events, and content that are relevant to the user’s current city and interests.
Core Concept
Users create an account, select their interests, and optionally allow location access. The app then provides two main ways to discover content:
1. Social Feed
The home screen works similarly to X/Twitter.
It contains two main feeds:
* City: Shows public posts and relevant content from people and businesses within the user’s current city.
* Following: Shows posts from accounts and businesses the user follows.
Users can publish text, photos, and videos, interact with posts, comment, repost/share, like, bookmark, and follow other accounts.
Posts can also be associated with a location, allowing users to discover where something is happening.
2. Interactive Map
The map is one of Hena’s main features.
Instead of displaying only businesses, the map can help users discover:
* Nearby places
* Restaurants and cafés
* Activities
* Events
* Businesses
* Relevant local content
Map results should be filterable by category and interests.
A user should be able to tap a map marker and immediately see information about that place/activity and open its profile or details.
Account Types
Hena has two primary account types:
Personal Account
For regular users who want to discover their city, publish content, follow people and businesses, participate in activities, and communicate with others.
Business Account
For cafés, restaurants, venues, sports facilities, lounges, entertainment locations, and other businesses.
Businesses can:
* Create a business profile
* Set their physical location
* Publish posts
* Create activities/events
* Appear on the map
* Build followers
* See users interested in their activities
Activities & Events
Businesses can create local activities or small events.
Examples:
* Running groups
* Football matches
* Art workshops
* Coffee gatherings
* Gaming events
* Hobby meetups
* Restaurant/café events
Users can discover these activities through the feed, Explore section, business profiles, or the map and indicate that they are interested or want to join.
The first version does not require an in-app payment system.
Explore
The Explore page should help users discover:
* Suggested people
* Popular places
* Nearby businesses
* Trending local content
* Activities happening this week
* Content based on their interests
Search should support people, businesses, places, and activities.
Direct Messaging
Users should be able to communicate through private/direct messages.
Notifications
Notifications should include important social interactions such as:
* New followers
* Likes/interactions
* Comments
* Activity updates
* Relevant business/activity notifications
* Direct message notifications
Business Model
The initial monetization model is advertising rather than subscriptions.
Businesses or advertisers can purchase visibility outside the app through the platform management team, and administrators can configure campaigns from the Admin Dashboard.
Advertising can appear:
* Inside the social feed
* As promoted locations/content on the map
No payment gateway is required for V1.
Admin Dashboard
A web-based administration panel is required to manage:
* Users
* Business accounts
* Posts/content
* Activities/events
* Interests/categories
* Reports/moderation
* Advertisements
* Account suspension/activation
* Basic analytics and platform statistics
UI / UX Direction
The application name is:
Arabic: هنا
English: Hena
The app should be Arabic-first with full RTL support, while also supporting English/LTR.
The visual identity uses a very dark navy/black interface with white text and a mint/teal-green accent.
The social feed should feel clean and minimal, inspired by the simplicity of X/Twitter, but it must maintain Hena’s own branding and identity.
The primary bottom navigation should be approximately:
Home – Explore – Map – Notifications – Messages
The Map icon should remain in the center of the navigation bar, while a separate floating + button on the right side is used to create a new post.
The Home screen should remain feed-focused. The map should be a dedicated screen rather than taking over the Home feed.
Main Screens
The application should include at minimum:
* Splash / onboarding
* Phone number login and OTP verification
* Account type selection
* Interest selection
* Location permission
* Home / City Feed
* Following Feed
* Post creation
* Post details/comments
* Explore
* Search
* Interactive Map
* Place details
* Business profile
* User profile
* Activities
* Activity details
* Notifications
* Direct messages
* Conversation screen
* Settings
* Privacy/account management
Product Vision
The easiest way to describe Hena is:
“X/Twitter-style social interaction + local discovery + an interactive map.”
Hena should answer a simple question:
“What is happening around me, and who or what is worth discovering nearby?”
The goal is not to create another generic social network. The location and city are fundamental parts of the product.
