We are Spring Road Nursery, a small independent nursery in Tunbridge, Vermont. We grow unusual and hard-to-find perennials from seed and sell handmade terracotta planters made on site. Shoppers are home gardeners who want plants they will not find at a big-box garden center.
We need short product copy for the plant pages on our site. No design work. No logo. Text only.
What we need
Write 10 plant listing descriptions + one short “How we grow” note for the catalog page.
Each plant description:

90–130 words
Opening line that names the plant in plain English, then the botanical name
What it looks like in the garden (size, color, season)
Growing conditions in short form: sun/shade, soil, hardiness (we will give USDA zone)
One practical note (smell, wildlife, container use, or “not a beginner plant”)
Closing line that helps someone decide to add it to a cart or a spring list

Tone:

Clear, a little dry humor is fine
Written like a plantsman talking at the bench, not a lifestyle magazine
No “transform your outdoor oasis,” no “lush greenery for modern living”
No emoji

Plants for this batch (facts will be sent in a Google Sheet after hire)

Melianthus major (honey bush — leaves smell like peanut butter)
Rodgersia
“Goth grass” ornamental grass (exact cultivar in the sheet)
Unusual hardy geranium
Species peony
Rare primula
Shade perennial with dark foliage
Drought-tolerant unusual perennial
Cut-flower perennial we grow from seed
A plant we call “strange on purpose” — details in the sheet

Also write:

“How we grow” blurb — 80–100 words. We grow a lot from seed on the farm. That is why the list looks odd compared with a regular nursery.

Please do not

invent hardiness zones, heights, or bloom times
copy text from other nurseries
add SEO keyword stuffing
write care sheets, blog posts, or planter product copy in this job

Deliverables

Google Doc or Word file
10 plant descriptions + 1 “How we grow” blurb
File names matching the plant list
US English

What we will send after hire
A sheet with botanical name, common name, height, bloom time, zone, sun, and 1–2 owner notes per plant.
If the voice is right, later jobs will stay with this nursery: planter product copy, seasonal availability emails, and short plant-care notes for pickup orders.
Please bid with a 80–100 word sample description of any unusual perennial (even one not on this list) so we can hear the tone.
