About Compose
Compose is a software development company that builds apps, websites, backend systems, and digital products for businesses, creators, and startups. We also build and launch our own products, including apps like Once Upon, an AI storybook app for kids.
We are looking for a marketing expert to help us improve how we market both Compose as a company and the individual products we build.
This is a 3-month contract role with the potential to continue if it is a strong fit.
About the Role
We are looking for someone who can help us build a practical marketing foundation across platforms like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Reddit, and other relevant channels.
We already have some accounts and marketing efforts started, but we need someone who can help us organize everything, improve our strategy, create product-specific marketing pages and content direction, and teach our team how to think about marketing going forward.
This role is not just about posting on social media. We need someone who can help with strategy, messaging, setup, execution, and education.
You will help market both:
Compose as a software development company
Our products, such as Once Upon and future apps we build
Responsibilities
Review our current marketing presence across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Reddit, website pages, and other channels
Help define clear messaging for Compose and our products
Create or improve product-specific social pages and content strategies
Help set up, clean up, and organize Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Reddit, and related marketing channels
Create a practical 3-month marketing plan
Help us understand what content to post, where to post it, and why
Advise on organic marketing, paid ads, influencer outreach, and community-based marketing
Help us create repeatable marketing systems we can continue after the contract ends
Teach our team the basics of marketing strategy, content planning, analytics, and campaign execution
Help identify target audiences for Compose and individual products
Review analytics and help us understand what is working
Suggest improvements to landing pages, bios, profiles, ads, posts, and funnels
Help us avoid wasting money on random ads or unfocused content
Ideal Candidate
You may be a strong fit if you:
Have experience marketing software products, mobile apps, startups, SaaS, agencies, or digital services
Understand social media strategy across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Reddit, and similar platforms
Can help with both brand-level marketing and product-specific marketing
Know how to create practical, realistic marketing plans
Can explain marketing concepts clearly to a technical team
Understand organic content, paid ads, audience targeting, and funnel strategy
Are comfortable working with a small team
Can give direct feedback and help us prioritize what matters most
Are strategic but also willing to help with hands-on execution
Nice to Have
Experience marketing mobile apps
Experience with AI products or consumer apps
Experience with creator or influencer marketing
Experience setting up Meta Ads, TikTok Ads, or Reddit Ads
Experience with landing page copy and conversion optimization
Experience working with small businesses, startups, agencies, or founder-led companies
What Success Looks Like After 3 Months
By the end of the engagement, we want to have:
A clear marketing strategy for Compose
A clear marketing strategy for at least one product, such as Once Upon
Organized and improved social media accounts
Product-specific pages and content direction
A repeatable content plan
A basic paid ads or campaign strategy, if appropriate
Better understanding of who we are targeting and how to reach them
A team that understands marketing better and can continue executing after the contract

Contract length: 3 months

Location: Remote
Time commitment: Flexible, but we expect consistent weekly involvement
