I’m about to cut my first synthetic diamond and need an experienced faceter to guide me, step by step, through proven faceting techniques. My knowledge is strictly beginner level, so I’m looking for clear explanations of every stage—from choosing the right laps and angles to achieving a crisp final polish on a lab-grown stone.
Here’s what I have in mind:
• One or two live video sessions (Zoom or similar) where you demonstrate or screen-share the exact sequence you recommend.
• A concise written outline afterward that lists the angles, indexes, laps, grit progressions, and polishing agents you use when working with synthetics.
• Time for Q&A so I can troubleshoot issues such as chipping, meet-point alignment, and pavilion symmetry.
I already have standard equipment (mast-type faceting machine, 96-index gear, assortment of diamond laps) but need your advice on whether any specialty tools or consumables are necessary for lab-grown material. If you prefer working with software like GemCad or GemCut Studio to illustrate the process, I’m happy to follow along.
The job is complete once I feel confident enough to execute the full cut on my own and have your written technique sheet for reference. Looking forward to learning from a professional who has real-world experience with synthetic diamonds and can explain everything in plain language.
