I’m putting together a slide deck that explains Khat from every key angle and I’d like your help gathering, distilling, and presenting the material. The deck must rest on peer-reviewed scientific journals, so please base every claim on citations drawn from PubMed, Google Scholar, or similarly reputable databases.
I would like to emphasize an overarching goal of determining the nature of Khat, the history and culture surrounding the drug and the facts behind its experience to propose a solution to determined problems of the experience of the drug in regards to ones health and well being(ie. mental states such as depression from withdrawal, or dependence). I would like you to propose potential pharmacological solutions to determined problems in the form of a supplement or pharmaceutical medication.
I want to innovate a supplement or pharmaceutical medication that will ease Khat withdrawal symptoms, and potentially prevent psychotic symptoms by replenishing the mind after use of the drug. I also want to give dependent users a path away from dependence through this medication or supplement.
Scope to cover
• Chemical composition and pharmacology – isolate the main active alkaloids, explain their mechanism of action in the body, and note onset, peak, and half-life data.
• Cultural and historical context – track the plant’s traditional use across the Horn of Africa and the diaspora and the southern Arabian region(ie. Yemen, Southern Saudi Arabia), including any legal or socio-economic nuances that shape consumption today.
• Health effects with special emphasis on withdrawal – outline acute and chronic physiological and psychological impacts, then describe recognised withdrawal patterns, timelines, and symptom severity.
Presentation format
• PowerPoint or Google Slides, roughly 20-25 visually clean slides.
• Speaker notes beneath each slide that expand on every bullet in plain language.
• Inline citations plus a final reference slide in APA or Vancouver style.
Acceptance criteria
1. Every fact traceable to a cited scientific article.
2. Balanced treatment of benefits, risks, and cultural significance.
3. Logical flow: introduction → chemistry → pharmacology → culture/history → health effects & withdrawal → conclusion.
4. Delivered as an editable file and a PDF export.
If you have relevant academic access or prior work on ethnopharmacology, let me know in your proposal along with a sample slide or short outline so I can gauge fit.
