Job Summary:
Independence American Insurance Co is seeking an Associate Regulatory Compliance Specialist who will report to the Director, Compliance. The Associate Regulatory Compliance Specialist is responsible for end-to-end support of regulatory change management process; including monitoring the regulatory landscape for new and changed laws; analyzing laws, and communicating regulatory changes to applicable areas within the organization. Responsible for tracking implementation evidence of compliance related to communicated laws. Supports compliance investigations and reviews, tracking all relevant documentation.
Job Location: Remote – USA
Main Responsibilities:
Facilitates review of laws, making determinations of applicability for our organizations
Distills and communicates law requirements to business relationship owners to ensure compliance with law, including ensuring that regulatory standards are applied to organizational policies, procedures, and/or products
Maintains a repository of knowledge related to regulations and regulatory changes relevant to the industry and the organization
Coordinates with business relationship owners and vendors to train, educate, mitigate compliance risks, and drive industry best practices
Contributes to monitoring and auditing workplans through work and through identification of areas of potential non-compliance; may conduct monitoring, auditing, and surveillance of operational functions, reports, and corrective actions
Collaborates as needed on compliance related questions, complaints, and incidents
Manages timelines and deliverables; coordinating and evaluating work responses; analyzes and communicates business impacts and potential risks to leadership
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Basic Qualifications:
Associate’s Degree or equivalent work experience (one-year relevant experience is equivalent to one-year college).
1-year internal audit, legal, compliance, insurance, government program, and/or relevant experience
Relevant experience considered would be:
Health Insurance Compliance
Property & Casualty Insurance Compliance
Health Care Compliance
Law Office Law Review
Consulting for companies such as NILs Insource, Lexis Nexis, West Law etc
The following experience is not translatable and would not be considered as relevant experience:
Banking Compliance
Higher Education Compliance
Privacy and IT Security Compliance
Manufacturing Compliance
Biomedical Compliance
Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position: Days and hours to be determined by needs of business. Hours to be determined between employee and leader
