I'm seeking a short-form reel video featuring a funny karaoke moment. The focus should be on humorous reactions. This video will be primarily shared on social media.
Requirements:
- Capture a funny karaoke moment
- Emphasize funny reactions
- Edit for a dynamic, engaging social media format
Ideal Skills & Experience:
- Experience with comedy or entertainment videos
- Strong editing skills
- Ability to highlight humor effectively
Direction
Create a fast, funny, highly engaging vertical social-media edit from my uploaded footage.
FORMAT:
9:16 vertical
Approximately 45–55 seconds
Optimized for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts
Fast pacing, punchy captions, comedic timing
COMEDIC PREMISE:
The running joke is that people seem more impressed by my T-shirt than by my actual karaoke performance.
OPENING — START WITH THE END:
Open with the clip AFTER my performance where a woman approaches me and says:
“I like your shirt.”
Keep her original audio clear.
Should be heard in first second of clip
Immediately after she says “shirt,” add a dramatic comedic BOOM / bass-hit sound effect.
Freeze frame or quickly punch-zoom onto me wearing the shirt. (Use the still image provided)
Make the shirt extremely easy to see.
Add large bold text:
“WAIT… THE SHIRT?! ”
Then:
“Not my Cardi B performance?”
Hold just long enough for the joke to register.
REWIND:
Add a dramatic rewind/VHS reverse effect.
Text:
“40 SECONDS EARLIER…”
Rewind into the beginning of my performance.
PERFORMANCE SECTION:
Show approximately 40 seconds of the best performance footage.
Keep the performance authentic, but edit it like a funny social-media clip.
Use:
• Quick punch-ins on funny facial expressions
• Strategic zooms
• Occasional freeze frames
• Reaction shots when available
• Subtle camera shake or impact effects on big moments
• Fast cuts when energy drops
• Large readable captions for important lines
• Comedic sound effects only where they improve the joke
Do NOT over-edit every second. Let the performance breathe so viewers can actually judge it.
PROFANITY:
Automatically censor strong profanity.
Replace profanity audio with funny BLEEPS.
In captions, replace profanity with symbols such as:
“F***”
“S***”
“@#$%!”
Make the bleeps intentionally noticeable and slightly comedic.
RUNNING SHIRT JOKE:
During the performance, occasionally cut or zoom to the shirt as though the shirt is secretly the star of the video.
Possible quick text overlays:
“Shirt carrying the whole performance…”
“Meanwhile, the shirt:”
“Apparently THIS is the talent.”
Use only 1–2 of these so the joke doesn't become repetitive.
ENDING:
Return to the woman saying:
“I like your shirt.”
Freeze on my reaction or the clearest shot of me wearing the shirt.
Add a record-scratch or comedic stop.
Then display:
“BE HONEST…”
“WHAT'S BETTER?”
THE SHIRT
or
THE PERFORMANCE
Finish with:
“Vote in the comments ”
STYLE:
Funny
Self-aware
Playful
Fast-paced
Authentic rather than overly polished
Bold black-and-white social captions
Meme-style timing
Keep my personality and the original performance as the focus
IMPORTANT:
The viewer should understand the joke within the first 3 seconds, but still want to watch the performance to decide whether the woman was right.
