Do you run or know a CNC shop with archived customer jobs? Linewise, a San Francisco-based, Y Combinator-backed startup, pays shops to license real-world machined parts data for physical AI and robotics training.
Volume: 50–100 parts per partner, delivered in batches.
Compensation: $100 per 5 approved bundles.
Parts We Need
Real customer parts made using 3-axis CNC milling, with multiple setups or feature types. Metals and engineering plastics (POM, PEEK, nylon) are accepted.
Examples include mould and die components, housings, brackets, manifolds, machine parts, robotics components, automotive parts, medical/lab components, heat sinks, and consumer hardware.
Required Files for Each Part
STEP model of the finished part as a single solid
Original editable Fusion 360 file (.f3d), including all setups and toolpaths
Posted G-code for every setup
Dimensionally matching technical drawing (PDF)
Setup sheet: machine make/model and travels, material, stock size, workholding, number of setups, Fusion version and licence type
Realistic quote/price estimate and provenance note (who machined it, where, and approximately when)
Requirements
Physically machined by your shop for a real customer job
3-axis milling only; no 3+2, 4-axis, 5-axis, router, or hybrid work
CAM created in Fusion 360 under a commercial licence (Educational and Personal Use licences are not accepted)
All files must match, and the part must fit the listed machine's travels
You must have the right to license the data, including customer permission
Not Accepted
Fixtures or shop workholding, including soft jaws, jigs, and fixture plates
Wood, MDF, foam, trivial parts, single-operation jobs, 2D profile cuts, engraving, or nameplates
More than 5 genuinely different designs per part family
Unmachined parts, test cuts, demos, training pieces, downloaded/open-source models, defence/export-controlled/NDA parts, or multi-body STEP files
How It Works
Pilot: Submit 5 sample parts. Approved samples earn $20 each and count toward your total. Review within 24 hours.
Batches: Submit the remaining parts in batches of 20. Each batch is QC-checked and paid upon approval.
Ongoing work: Failed submissions are returned for fixes and are not paid until approved. Consistently high-quality partners may receive ongoing contracts.
