I’m getting ready to track a classical music project and need an audio engineer who is confident handling the full recording stage—from microphone selection and placement through to delivering clean, well-labelled session files. Because this is classical repertoire, I’m looking for someone who knows how to preserve natural dynamics, room ambience and authentic instrument tone without relying on heavy post-processing.
We’ll be working with live performers, so quiet signal paths, proper gain staging and meticulous attention to phase coherence are essential. You should be comfortable recording at 24-bit/96 kHz (or higher if you prefer) and able to supply the raw multitrack stems along with the original DAW session once the takes are wrapped. If you have a favorite mic array for strings, piano or small ensembles, let me know; I’m open to Blumlein, ORTF, Decca Tree or any proven approach that captures the space realistically.
Deliverables:
• Multitrack WAV files for each take
• Corresponding project/session file (Pro Tools, Logic, Reaper or similar)
• A quick reference stereo bounce for review purposes
Once the recording is completed and everything checks out—clean noise floor, no clipping, consistent labeling—the project will be considered fulfilled. Mixing or mastering can be discussed separately, but for now the focus is on impeccable capture. If this sounds like your specialty, I’d love to hear about your classical projects and the gear you trust most.
