Classic WCAG Website Development

I’m refreshing my site and need a developer-designer who can marry speed, accessibility and a timeless, classic aesthetic. The content will be almost entirely text-based articles, so clean typography, clear hierarchy and rock-solid readability sit at the heart of the build.

Here’s the vision
• Lightning-fast load times on every device, scoring 90 + on Lighthouse mobile.
• Fully responsive layouts that feel native whether viewed on a phone, tablet or widescreen monitor.
• Strict conformance with WCAG 2.1 AA: colour contrast, keyboard navigation, ARIA landmarks, descriptive links—every audit box ticked.
• A classic, traditional design language: elegant serif or transitional fonts, understated colour palette, balanced white space, minimal motion.

Scope of work
You’ll craft a lightweight theme or template set, wire it to the CMS you’re most comfortable with (WordPress, Statamic, Hugo—whatever keeps the code lean), and deliver five core page types: Home, Article, About, Archive/Blog listing and Contact. All templates must validate for semantic HTML5 and pass both automated and manual accessibility checks.

Deliverables
• Responsive HTML/CSS/JS (or CMS theme) for the five page types
• WCAG 2.1 AA compliance report with testing notes
• Performance test results with optimisation summary
• Short editor guide covering heading structure, alt text, and publishing workflow

Timeline
A first interactive prototype within 7 days of kickoff, final hand-off—including documentation—no later than two weeks after that.
