Classic Balcony Design Review

I'm a structural engineer and I already have draft plans (including structural design) for a balcony remodel and now we need a fresh, expert eye on them. The objective is an aesthetic upgrade and expansion that trends toward classic and harmonizes with the rest of the façade.

Here is what I’m after: a thoughtful architectural review of the drawings, clear advice on how to refine the overall concept, and suggestions for materials and finishes that reinforce a timeless look. Think proportion tweaks, subtle mouldings, railing profiles, traditional lighting placement, surface treatments, and any other touches that elevate the space without straying from a classic vocabulary.

Deliverables
• A concise PDF report critiquing the current design and recommending improvements
• Mark-ups or quick sketches on my existing plan/elevation files (I can provide them in PDF or DWG)
• A small materials & finishes board with product references or comparable specs, all readily sourced

To be considered complete, the recommendations must stay within typical residential code requirements and be practical to execute. Editable files are preferred for any visual mark-ups. I’m ready to supply the drawings immediately and would like your feedback within a week of project start.
