I’m looking for a creative video producer to make a polished, cinematic 55–60 second vertical YouTube Short for The Mystery Channel, promoting my book Continuum Case Files: Genesis, by Gene Laroy.
The video should feel like a compelling mini supernatural mystery first. Hook viewers immediately, build an eerie sense that something is wrong, and leave them with a cliffhanger. Save the book promotion for the final 10–13 seconds. I want suspense and believable storytelling, not a generic slideshow or a loud advertisement.
THE SCENE
This is a flashback from the book. Leo, a nineteen-year-old adult, is camping in the woods beside a rocky creek with three friends. He wakes beside the ashes of a burned-out campfire. His friends are still asleep. The creek is visibly flowing, but it makes no sound. There are no insects or wind—everything has gone unnaturally quiet.
Leo notices a tall, thin, faceless distortion near the creek, like heat shimmer bending the trees and rocks behind it. It should feel unsettling and difficult to explain, not like a glowing white ghost, hooded figure, or solid monster. Believing his friends are in danger, he moves toward it and charges. Cut before contact. Suddenly he cannot move or speak, though his eyes remain alert. Leave his fate unresolved, then reveal the book.
I welcome your ideas for shot composition, pacing, transitions, and the strongest visual hook. Please keep the core events faithful to the supplied excerpt rather than inventing an alley chase or unrelated scenes. We have already explored this scene in a previous video and want a fresh creative interpretation, not a copy of that edit.
CHARACTERS AND STYLE
I will supply approved character images, including shirtless Leo references, the book cover, and the relevant excerpt. Use these to maintain Leo’s recognizable face, hair, and physique throughout; he is naturally shirtless at the campsite. The three sleeping campers are his friends from this flashback, not the present-day investigative team. Aim for realistic cinematic imagery, moody moonlight, and consistent characters and geography.
SOUND AND NARRATION
Use a creepy off-screen male narrator: low, restrained, intimate, natural American English, and clearly understandable. Silence is essential to the scene. Use sparse breathing, footsteps, and subtle tension sound rather than constant music, water noise, or loud horror effects. Suggested short narration: “I woke up because everything had stopped.” / “I thought I could protect them.” / “Then I couldn’t move.” We can finalize the script together before production.
ENDING
Show the supplied cover clearly and unchanged. Correct title: CONTINUUM CASE FILES: GENESIS. End with a clear invitation to read the book, plus “Find our books on Amazon” and “Links in the description.” Keep the narrator’s ominous tone through the ending. All text must be large enough for a phone and clear of YouTube interface overlays.
DELIVERABLES AND PROPOSAL
• One finished 55–60 second video, vertical 9:16, 1080 × 1920 MP4 with mixed audio, ready for YouTube Shorts.
• A script/shot plan for approval before full production and a review draft before final delivery.
• Please quote a fixed total price, turnaround time, and included revisions. Specify whether source/editable project files are included.
• AI-assisted footage is welcome if character consistency and quality are strong. Disclose the tools/workflow you plan to use. All footage, music, sound, and voice assets must be licensed for commercial promotional use; no watermarks.
• Include 2–3 relevant cinematic suspense, horror, or book-trailer samples and briefly explain how you would make the silent-creek moment compelling.
Please base your proposal on this specific scene. I’m looking for storytelling, atmosphere, and careful continuity—not just fast cuts and stock footage.
