Looking for Philippines-based candidates
Job Role: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Compensation range: $3,500 AUD - $4,500 AUD / Monthly
Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement
Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.
Who We Are: At Hunt St, we help Australian companies hire top remote talent in the Philippines. For this role, you will be engaged directly by the client as an independent contractor. We are not an outsourcing agency. All of our roles are 100% remote so you'll be able to work from home.
Who The Client Is: Our client is a well-established, family-owned heavy equipment company based in Australia, specializing in the sale, hire, and servicing of earthmoving and construction machinery. With decades of operating history, they've built a strong reputation for reliability and customer service within the civil construction and mining supply sectors.
Role Overview: We're looking for an experienced Chief Financial Officer to take full ownership of the company's financial function. This is a broad, high-trust role covering financial strategy, reporting, compliance, and cash flow management, working closely with the Managing Director to guide commercial decision-making. You'll be the senior-most finance person in the business, responsible for bringing structure, accuracy, and forward-looking insight to a growing operation.
Key Responsibilities:
Own end-to-end financial management of the business, including monthly management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting
Act as a strategic partner to the Managing Director, providing financial insight to support pricing, fleet investment, and growth decisions
Oversee day-to-day finance operations including accounts payable/receivable, payroll support, and general ledger accuracy
Prepare timely and accurate financial statements in line with Australian accounting standards and statutory requirements
Manage BAS, GST, payroll tax, and other regulatory lodgments in coordination with external accountants where required
Monitor and manage working capital, including equipment financing, asset depreciation schedules, and inventory-related costs
Develop and maintain robust financial controls, policies, and procedures to support the business as it scales
Lead annual budgeting and rolling forecast processes across departments
Liaise with banks, auditors, insurers, and other external financial stakeholders as needed
Identify cost efficiencies and margin improvement opportunities across the business
Support ad hoc financial modelling and analysis for major equipment purchases, tenders, or expansion opportunities
Requirements
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA, CA, or equivalent professional qualification preferred
Minimum 8-10 years of progressive finance experience, including prior experience at CFO, Finance Manager, or Financial Controller level
Strong background in Australian financial compliance, tax, and reporting standards
Experience working with an Australian business, ideally within construction, equipment hires, logistics, or a similar asset-heavy industry (highly regarded but not essential)
Advanced proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, or similar platforms
Excellent Excel and financial modelling skills
Strong written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders
High level of integrity, attention to detail, and ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision
Comfortable working AU business hours and collaborating with a remote/distributed team
Work Arrangement & Expectations:
This is a remote role that will be set up as an independent contractor engagement.
To ensure alignment and transparency, successful candidates will be expected to:
Disclose any existing ongoing roles or client work
Reflect this engagement on their LinkedIn profile (clearly marked as “Independent Contractor”)
