Role Summary
The Chief Digital Assets Officer (CDAO) is responsible for leading the organization's digital assets strategy, including tokenized assets, digital securities, cryptocurrencies, central bank digital currencies (CBDCs), custody solutions, and blockchain-enabled financial products. This executive role oversees the development, governance, commercialization, and regulatory compliance of digital asset initiatives while driving innovation and sustainable growth in the evolving digital economy.
Key Responsibilities
1. Digital Assets Strategy & Leadership
Develop and execute the organization's digital assets and tokenization strategy.
Identify opportunities for digital asset adoption, monetization, and business growth.
Advise the CEO, Board, and executive leadership on digital asset trends, risks, and market developments.
Establish long-term digital asset roadmaps aligned with corporate strategy.
2. Digital Asset Product Development
Lead the creation and commercialization of digital asset products and services.
Oversee tokenized investment products, digital securities, stablecoin initiatives, and custody offerings.
Drive innovation in digital asset trading, settlement, and asset management solutions.
Ensure scalability, security, and regulatory compliance of digital asset platforms.
3. Tokenization & Digital Securities
Develop tokenization strategies for financial instruments, real-world assets, and alternative investments.
Lead digital securities issuance and lifecycle management initiatives.
Evaluate opportunities in asset tokenization and fractional ownership models.
Drive adoption of blockchain-enabled financial infrastructure.
4. Digital Asset Operations & Custody
Oversee custody frameworks and asset protection mechanisms.
Ensure operational resilience and secure management of digital assets.
Implement governance controls for wallets, private keys, and settlement processes.
Establish operational best practices and service standards.
5. Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure compliance with digital asset regulations and financial market requirements.
Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Risk, and Information Security functions.
Manage regulatory licensing, reporting, and audit obligations.
Monitor developments from regulators and industry bodies affecting digital assets.
6. Market Development & Strategic Partnerships
Build partnerships with exchanges, custodians, financial institutions, fintechs, and blockchain providers.
Develop strategic alliances to expand digital asset capabilities and market access.
Represent the organization within digital asset industry forums and working groups.
Support ecosystem growth and institutional adoption initiatives.
7. Technology & Innovation
Partner with technology teams to develop blockchain-based digital asset infrastructure.
Evaluate emerging technologies supporting digital assets and tokenization.
Drive innovation in settlement, custody, interoperability, and smart contract capabilities.
Support integration of digital assets into existing financial systems.
8. Leadership & Organizational Development
Build and lead high-performing digital asset, product, operations, and compliance teams.
Develop internal expertise in digital assets, tokenization, and blockchain technologies.
Manage budgets, investments, and vendor relationships.
Foster a culture of innovation, governance, and operational excellence.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Technology, Computer Science, Law, or related field.
MBA, Master's degree, CFA, JD/LLB, or equivalent advanced qualification preferred.
15+ years of experience in financial services, capital markets, asset management, fintech, digital assets, or blockchain-related sectors.
Minimum 5+ years in a senior executive leadership role.
Proven experience with digital assets, tokenization, digital securities, custody, or blockchain-enabled financial products.
Strong understanding of capital markets, financial regulations, custody operations, and digital asset ecosystems.
