1. Project Overview & Objective
The objective is to perform a rigorous peer review and technical validation of process P&IDs for a multi-component chemical processing and fluid handling skid prior to final CAD updates and fabrication release. The review ensures process safety, fluid mechanics integrity, correct sensor positioning, functional control logic representation, and alignment with ISA-5.1 drafting standards.
2. Scope of Work & Review Tasks
Process & Mechanical Validation:
Verify line sizing, flow direction, fluid velocity limits, and material compatibility for piping, tubing, seals, and valving.
Validate pump suction/discharge arrangements, check valve locations, back-pressure regulators, manual isolation boundaries, and sample/drain points.
Confirm over-pressure and thermal expansion relief mechanisms, vacuum abatement, and system purge connections.
Instrumentation & Controls (I&C):
Review sensor selection and positioning (e.g., inline chemical concentration sensors, pH probes, differential pressure transmitters, RTD probes, flow meters) to guarantee reliable sampling and zero air-entrainment.
Verify actuated valve control loops, solenoid controls, and failsafe positions (Fail Closed, Fail Open, Fail Locked).
Cross-reference instrument tagging, signal lines (hardwired vs. software/PLC link), and I/O mapping against the core Control Philosophy.
