I have a heartfelt village tale sketched out and now I’m ready to see it grow into a full-length, chapter-by-chapter novel. The story opens in Shivpur, a lush and “very beautiful” village where two babies are born to families who are the closest of friends. As the children grow, life pulls them apart: one boy leaves for schooling in Bangalore while the girl’s family settles in Hyderabad. Twenty-two years later their paths cross again, setting the stage for an emotional family drama of separation, self-discovery, and reunion.
What I need from you is the craft and structure to turn this premise into a compelling novel that moves naturally from childhood innocence to adult reconciliation. The core feeling I want the reader to experience is the aching, hopeful pull of family bonds stretched across distance and time.
Here’s how I imagine the workflow:
• Create an outline that divides the story into clear chapters, pacing the move from Shivpur to the cities, the parallel journeys of each family, and the eventual return.
• Draft each chapter in sequence (Google Docs or Word), weaving in regional detail, cultural nuance, and believable dialogue.
• Build tension around the years of separation: new friends, career challenges, and the hidden questions about what became of the other family.
• Drive the climax around the long-awaited reunion and the reckoning that follows for both sets of parents and the now-grown children.
• Revise once the full first draft is complete, ensuring voice consistency, smooth transitions between rural and urban settings, and a satisfying emotional payoff.
Acceptance criteria: a complete manuscript of roughly 60–80k words, delivered as polished chapters with a clear beginning, midpoint shift, and resolved ending; characters that evolve through realistic conflicts; and settings that ring true to Bangalore, Hyderabad, and a lovingly depicted Shivpur.
If you love multigenerational stories and can capture the bittersweet beauty of leaving home to find it again, let’s bring Shivpur’s saga to life.
